CBS Gives Script Commitment to James Gandolfini Project

In an early buy for the next development cycle, CBS has given a script commitment to a project with James Gandolfini attached to executive produce, Deadline.com reports.

"Taxi-22," an adaptation of a French-Canadian single-camera comedy, has been set at HBO for the past three years and went through different incarnations. At one point Gandolfini was attached to play the lead. But now a search is on for a new writer, and there aren’t any plans for Gandolfini to star.

The project is said to be about a politically incorrect NYC cab driver, similar in spirit to the character Archie Bunker from “All in the Family.”
