With the untimely death of actor James Gandolfini, three major television projects are now facing an uncertain future, reports Deadline.com.

The actor-producer had been working on "Bone Wars" at HBO Films, a project in which he and Steve Carell were to play the famous post-Civil War paleontologists Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh. The pair had a fossil race that led to the discovery of more than 160 dinosaurs. The script wasn’t yet written, the piece notes.

HBO last month gave a green light to "Criminal Justice," a limited series project starring Gandolfini as a New York City attorney who finds himself in deep water after taking on a homicide case. It’s said to be too soon after Gandolfini’s death for the network to make decisions on that project, with recasting reportedly being one option for the series.

Only two weeks ago, CBS gave a script commitment to “Taxi-22,” an adaptation of a French-Canadian comedy, with Gandolfini attached to executive produce. The project, which was a passion project for the actor, remains in development.

Gandolfini and his Attaboy Productions also had several other projects in development, including "Big Dead Place," an HBO drama based on a memoir by Nicholas Johnson.
