An actress known for her role on the Fox musical series “Glee” has come out as gay. A story in The Hollywood Reporter says Charice Pempengco, who played foreign exchange student Sunshine Corazon during season two of “Glee,” made the revelation in a Sunday night interview on a Filipino talk show.

She gave the interview in her native language, Tagalog. "I don’t know what the problem is because for me, there is no problem with that," she said. "So now I ask for forgiveness from those who don’t understand. And those who cannot accept. I apologize: I understand you."

The 21-year-old singer and actress first gained fame through YouTube videos and has performed as a guest on shows including "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

Pempengco, who goes professionally by her first name, reportedly became the first Asian solo singer to land in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart when her 2010 album “Charice” entered at No. 8.

  1. Do we really need to know this? Isn’t this really a homosexual show anyhow? Jane Lynch was not enough? Waiting for the first person to come out as “human”… but hasn’t happened yet. Enough with the coming out garbage already. It’s almost like the half hour newscast “local2” in Palm Springs keeps repeating over and over and over and over. It’s no longer noteworthy or newsworthy!
