John Stamos Project Back in Contention at NBC

A John Stamos project is back in contention at NBC, with the network commissioning a two-week rewrite based on the original script for "I Am Victor," reports Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com.

The project, based on a book by Jo Nesbo, has Stamos portraying Victor Port, a top divorce attorney with an unusual view of relationships, the story says. If executives like the new script, it’s possible the project could proceed with a midseason debut following the Winter Olympics.

The new direction will focus more on Victor’s legal cases rather than his personal life.

"I hear NBC liked the show’s legal world and Stamos, who tested very strong,” Andreeva writes. “There is also the issue of the show’s tone, which first became a point of contention during the filming of the pilot and led to the departure of executive producer Katie Jacobs. I hear the reworked version will be lighter than the original, which was deemed by some as being too dark.”
