Keith Olbermann Returning to TV

Keith Olbermann has signed a deal that will mark his return to television. Writing in The New York Times, Bill Carter reports that Olbermann signed with Turner Sports to host its studio coverage of postseason Major League Baseball this fall.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, including its length, but Turner sports distribution President David Levy told The Times that the network wants to have the show with Olbermann "last a long time." The job with Turner means that he will be on the air for much of October.

Olbermann, who has a background in sports including his work as an ESPN "SportsCenter" anchor in the 1990s, has ended many of his jobs in acrimony. Olbermann made light of his career, telling The Times, "If you go through the 37 pages of my resume, you will notice that every one of my jobs has lasted at least one month, so I’m covered no matter what the eventuality is.”

Because the role effectively gives him 11 months free, Olbermann said he would be "open to pursuing other things, of course.” He added, “Planning on it? No. Need to? Fortunately not. Whatever else might be out there just could not be as compelling as this.”
