ABC’s "Modern Family" has hired the creator of a high-profile but canceled NBC comedy series. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the ABC series is bringing aboard Emily Spivey, the creator of "Up All Night."
Spivey will be part of the writing team during the show’s fifth season, with her hiring announced by executive producer and writer Danny Zuker on Twitter.
Spivey was one of several people to depart the NBC comedy earlier this year when the network sought to turn the show into a multicamera project.
The former "Saturday Night Live" staff writer has a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, which produces "Modern Family." Her deal includes working on new projects at the studio while also contributing to current shows.
