Oxygen is betting heavily on tattoo-oriented reality programming. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the cable channel renewed “Best Ink,” with plans to expand its presence in the niche genre with two additional tattoo series.

“Best Ink” wraps up season two this Wednesday, and will be back for a third. The show, hosted by Pete Wents, helped Oxygen set ratings records in May, including its most-watched night ever, May 21.

The new projects have the working titles “Tattoos After Dark” and “Break Up Tattoos.”

“’Tattoos After Dark’ comes from ‘Jersey Shore’ EP SallyAnn Salsano and her 495 Productions shingle,” the story reports. “It showcases the antics that take place in late-night tattoo parlors in party towns. ‘Break Up Tattoos,’ from Original Media and ‘LA Ink’ EP Charles Corwin, reunites former couples for the opportunity to re-do a tattoo that once represented their relationships.”

Rod Aissa, senior VP of original programming and development for Oxygen Media, said: "’Best Ink’ has been a proven hit and our viewers have connected with the tattoo artists’ and their skins’ (clients) emotional stories. Season three will deliver bigger challenges, higher emotional stakes and contestants that will stop at nothing to prove they have the Best Ink. We want to continue to super-serve the audience by expanding our slate, delving further into the world of tattooing and the extreme and unexpected environments of the culture."
