The USA Network saw smaller audiences for the season premieres of two series. Deadline.com reports that the fifth-season premiere of USA’s "Royal Pains" was watched by about 7% fewer viewers than its fourth-season debut. Leading out from “Pains,” “Necessary Roughness” also had a smaller turnout.

“Royal Pains” drew 3.682 million viewers, down from about 3.95 million who tuned in for its fourth-season premiere in June 2012. The program was also down in key demographics, with its 18-49 numbers pegged at 901,000 for the fifth-season premiere, down from 1.24 million a year earlier.

"Necessary Roughness" returned for its third season in the time slot following "Royal Pains," the piece notes. About 2.61 million viewers tuned in, down from the roughly 3 million viewers who watched its second-season premiere a year earlier.

"This decline comes despite the revamp that ‘Necessary Roughness’ underwent between seasons, bringing on John Stamos and David Anders for major recurring roles,” the story notes. “The show also added Karissa Lee Staples as a regular.”
