An actor who built a durable career over six decades in film and television has died. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elliott Reid, known for the feature films “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and “The Absent-Minded Professor,” died of heart failure Friday at 93 at an assisted-living facility in Studio City, Calif.

“Reid starred opposite Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell in ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ and alongside Fred MacMurray in ‘The Absent-Minded Professor,’” the piece reports. “He also had roles in ‘Son of Flubber’ and ‘Inherit the Wind’ and appeared in episodes of ‘I Love Lucy,’ ‘Perry Mason’ and ‘Murder, She Wrote,’ among others.”

Reid’s other TV appearances included “Seinfeld,” “All in the Family” and “Barney Miller.” He was also a writer, and was nominated for a Writers Guild of America award for an episode of “After MASH” in 1985.

Early in his career he was well-known for his work on radio, including the series “Suspense.” He was also a stage performer and a member of Orson Welles’ Mercury Theater.
