A visit Monday morning by Russell Brand to the MSNBC show “Morning Joe” got out of hand, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

“After several minutes of giggles, quips at Brand’s expense and, eventually, calling him by the wrong name, Brand appears to tire of the shenanigans and takes the interview into his own hands,” THR reports.

At one point Brand asks host Mika Brzezinski and panel members Katty Kay and Brian Shactman: "Is this what you all do for a living? … You convey news to the people of America? People of America, we’re gonna to be OK. Everything’s alright. These are your trusted anchors."

THR adds: “Looking on sheepishly, the hosts watch as Brand hijacks their segment and begins delivering news to the camera himself. But in typical Brand fashion, he also takes the opportunity to call Brzezinski a ‘shaft grasper,’ drawing attention to the water bottle she holds in her hands.”

Brand quips: "You need to lose that ring, Mika, cause it don’t mean nothing to ya.”

The video is below. It starts out with cringe-inducing remarks by Brzezinski saying she doesn’t know who Brand is. The video runs eight and a half minutes, but the best fireworks come near the end.
