‘American Idol’ Alum Joining ‘Glee’ — but Is the Casting Bad News for Him?

A popular alum of the Fox singing competition "American Idol" is joining the cast of another music-oriented Fox show, "Glee." Deadline.com reports that Adam Lambert, the runner-up in "Idol’s" eighth season, will be a part of "Glee’s" upcoming fifth season.

The casting was announced by "Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy on Twitter, although he didn’t provide details on Lambert’s role.

The news could mean that Lambert is no longer on the shortlist for a seat at the "Idol" judges’ table, the piece points out. He had been mentioned as a possible replacement for one of recent departures from the show, which include judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson.
