Disney Cancels Comedy Series

Jul 26, 2013  •  Post A Comment

Disney Channel has canceled a comedy series. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the cable channel pulled the plug on the live-action comedy series "Shake it Up" after three seasons.

The series stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya as best friends who end up getting jobs as backup dancers on a TV show.

The program will end after 78 episodes, although a final airdate hasn’t been set. The decision to cancel the show comes after Disney said another long-running comedy, "Good Luck Charlie," would end after its fourth season, as we reported recently.

Disney is building a new comedy slate, which includes the "Boy Meets World" spinoff "Girl Meets World" and a series about twins called "I Didn’t Do It," the piece notes.

  1. after Zendaya’s success on Dancing with the Stars, maybe the Disney PTB want to give her other projects or something…think so?
