A former writer and producer on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" received a green light for a project from Lifetime, reports Deadline.com.
Marti Noxon will executive produce the pilot "Unreal," a drama based on an independent short film called "Sequin Raze," which starred Frances Conroy and Ashley Williams.
"Unreal" goes behind the scenes of a dating show, tracking a young employee whose job is to emotionally manipulate contestants in order to get dramatic footage, the story says. The show is described as a humorous yet troubling look at reality TV.
Noxon has two other cable projects in contention for pickup: "Girlfriends Guide to Divorce" at Bravo and "Proof" with M. Night Shyamalan at Syfy.
