An actress known for her roles on ABC’s "Lost" and "FlashForward" and USA Network’s "Common Law" is joining the NBC series "Parenthood." EW.com’s Inside TV reports that English actress Sonya Walger will play a recurring role in the show’s fifth season.

Walger, who played Penny Widmore on "Lost" and was seen as Olivia Benford in ABC’s short-lived "FlashForward," will portray a single, attractive architect named Meredith who works with Joel (Sam Jaeger) on a two-year project, the report notes. That ends up making Joel’s wife, Julia (Erika Christensen), feel that Meredith is a threat, the story says.

Walger played Dr. Emma Ryan, a counselor to the show’s lead characters, on "Common Law."
