"Mother of two Charlotte Brosnan, 42, died from ovarian cancer last Friday, the same disease which killed her mother in 1991," reports the U.K. newspaper The Telegraph.

The story continues, "She fought the disease with ‘courage and dignity,’ but passed away surrounded by her family last Friday, her father, actor Pierce Brosnan, said. ‘On June 28 my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer,’ he said."

Brosnan added: “Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences.”

The story explains that Charlotte was Pierce Brosnan’s "daughter from his marriage to his first wife, Cassandra Harris, a former Bond girl, who he married in 1980," and who died in 1991, also from ovarian cancer. Pierce had adopted Charlotte and her brother Christopher after their father died in 1986 and they took the Brosnan surname."

The article also notes: "Stephanie Zimbalist, who played opposite Pierce in the TV series ‘Remington Steele,’ posted on Facebook: ‘Sad co-star news to announce. Please join us in sending love, prayers and sympathy to Pierce Brosnan and his family for the death of his daughter Charlotte.’”
