A simulcast in 200 countries around the world is in the works for a TV program that is about to mark its 50th anniversary. The BBC announced its plans today for the special episode of "Doctor Who," The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

The special plans are being made at least in part in an effort to avoid having spoilers circulate on the Internet before the episode airs in some countries, the story notes.

"Somewhat fittingly for a show about a time lord, it looks like ‘Doctor Who’ fans around the world are going to have to set their alarm clocks to make sure that they catch the series’ 50th Anniversary Special this November," THR reports.

BBC Worldwide said in its statement: "It’s always been our ambition to work with our broadcast partners so that international ‘Doctor Who’ fans can enjoy the 50th Anniversary special at the same time as the UK. We’ll have more details soon about our very exciting global plans for November."

THR adds: "The episode — which will be transmitted in 3D in Britain and accompanied by screenings in movie theaters around the country — will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, in the United Kingdom, with BBC America’s transmission beginning at 11 a.m. on the West Coast and 2 p.m. on the East."
