Frank Darabont Ready for Splashy TV Comeback After Exit From ‘Walking Dead’ — His Upcoming Event Series Gets a New Name — This Is at Least Its Third — Along With an Air Date and a Trailer … Watch the Video Here

After leaving AMC’s "The Walking Dead," Frank Darabont is about to return to television. The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that Darabont’s new project, being billed as an event series, will premiere on TNT Dec. 4.

The series, originally called "L.A. Noir" and then "Lost Angels," has a new title: "Mob City."

The six-episode series is adapted from the book "L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City." It’s set in Los Angeles after World War II, when the police fought mobsters like "Bugsy" Siegel, who will be played by Ed Burns.

There’s no word on why the title was changed a second time, the story notes, but the Times reports on the first name change: "The original title … came straight from the nonfiction book by John Buntin; however, Darabont later said in an interview that lawyers for video game company Rockstar threatened legal action over the name. Rockstar published the 2011 video game ‘L.A. Noire.’"
