Suggestions for Surviving the CBS Blackout

With millions of viewers left without Showtime and CBS programming given the blackout of those networks on Time Warner Cable systems as a dispute drags on between the two companies, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed has compiled a "a survival guide of sorts to tide viewers over."

If you are a "Big Brother" fan, you might want to try "The Challenge: Rivals II" on MTV, which the article describes as "complete with physical challenges, social gamesmanship and all-out verbal — and often physical — fights. It’s a more chaotic version of CBS summer staple ‘Big Brother.’" It airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m.

If you miss "The Young and the Restless," there are other soaps such as "General Hospital" to tune in to, the story adds. "Veteran soaps like NBC’s ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ABC’s ‘General Hospital’ are still running strong," the piece notes.

For "Dexter" fans, the publication suggests trying "Hannibal," with the last three episodes of the show’s first season available on Hulu. DVD/Blu-ray sets will come out Sept. 24.

And its last suggestion is to substitute "Under the Dome" with "Breaking Bad." The piece notes, "Dean Norris is the common thread between the two series." He plays Councilman "Big Jim" Rennie on "Under the Dome," and the DEA agent Hank on "Breaking Bad," which will return Aug. 11 with the show’s final episodes.
