A veteran character actor known for his performances on ABC’s "Webster" and other TV series and for his voice work has died. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Polic II, who played Jerry Silver on "Webster," died Sunday in an assisted living facility after battling cancer. He was 68.

Polic portrayed the Sheriff of Nottingham on Mel Brooks’ series "When Things Were Rotten," and gained cult status as the voice of the evil Scarecrow/Dr. Jonathan Crane in "Batman: The Animated Series," the story notes.

Polic was a game-show host on ABC’s "Double Talk" in 1986, and was also popular as a TV game contestant, often appearing on "The $25,000 Pyramid" and a later version, "The $100,000 Pyramid." Both shows were hosted by Dick Clark.

On "Webster," his character was the secretary and confidante to Katherine, played by Susan Clark. The show, which starred Emmanuel Lewis in the title role, ran on ABC from 1983 to 1987 and in syndication from 1987 to 1989.
