Lynn Marie Latham has been named executive producer of CBS’s “The Young and the Restless.” She joined daytime’s most popular drama in February as head writer after having been an executive consultant to the soap. She’ll continue to function as head writer and will oversee all creative aspects of the show.

Bill Bell Jr., president of the Bell Dramatic Serial Co., which produces “The Young and the Restless” in association with Sony Pictures Television, announced the promotion. “Lynn has done a terrific job balancing stories that are both compelling and emotional,” Mr. Bell said. “She has embraced the history of the show and found new opportunities for story lines that have great passion.”

Ms. Latham’s credits include the CBS classic prime-time soap “Knots Landing” as well as “Homefront,” “Savannah” and “Port Charles.”
