Tom Cosgrove has been named senior VP of Discovery Networks.

Discovery also named Jeff Goldberg VP of programming and scheduling and Hannah Beckerman director of development.

Mr. Cosgrove, formerly general manager of the TV Guide Channel, will also oversee programming on Discovery Times Channel, The Science Channel and Military Channel.

Last year was a rebound year for Discovery Channel, as it bounced back from sharp ratings declines in preceding years. The network is moving away from shows like “American Chopper” and looking for new formats that fit better with the Discovery brand.

“Discovery Networks is aggressively developing new genres and formats for our expanding programming slate across all of our networks” said Jane Root, executive VP and general manager of Discovery Networks. “By streamlining production, development and scheduling, along with these three key appointments, we are deepening our relationships with producers and focusing on our ambition to constantly bring our viewers captivating, limitless television, across all of our networks.”

Jeff Hassler, VP of development, will continue to report to Ms. Root.
