NBC broke Fox’s summer ratings winning streak Tuesday night with the second-season premiere of “America’s Got Talent.”
Produced by the companies behind “American Idol,” the two-hour NBC program flaunted a 4.3 rating among adults 18 to 49, according to preliminary Nielsens. That’s the highest-rated debut of any original summer series since the close of May sweeps, and it gave NBC a win for the night in both the demo and total viewers. Lead-in “Deal or No Deal” scored a 2.7.
On Fox, the Mark Burnett reality series “On the Lot” continued to struggle with a 1.4, down 22 percent from its time-period debut last week.
ABC aired the two-hour “ALMA Awards,” which earned a 1.4, down 13 percent from last summer’s telecast.
The rest of the Tuesday schedule was populated by repeats.
