Online video site Revver has shifted CEO and Founder Steven Starr to a new role as chairman of the board of directors. Kevin Wells, the company’s chief operating officer, steps in as CEO. He’s been COO since September spearheading day-to-day management. The changes are effective Friday June 8.
Mr. Starr has been CEO since founding the company in 2005. Revver said he will continue to provide strategic direction and serve as a spokesperson for the company. He will also continue to work with the site’s video creators and help develop new content for Revver.
“Revver is and always has been a champion for creator’s rights and open media sharing, and we’ll continue to drive change that benefits the independent creator community,” Mr. Starr said, in a statement.
Revver is best known for pioneering the model of splitting ad revenue with its independent creators.
