ABC Joins Other Nets in Scripted Cutbacks
ABC announced that it is cutting back on its scripted programming order for the 2008-09 season, Daily Variety reports. ABC joins Fox, CBS and the CW in making that announcement. NBC, on the other hand, said it will stick to its script orders for next year.
‘The Price Is Right’ Coming on Down to Primetime
Game-show “The Price is Right” is making a move to Fridays at 8 p.m. on CBS in order to cut down on strike-related repeats, Daily Variety reports. Six hour-long episodes have been given the go-ahead, with the first airing Feb. 22, the newspaper says. This will be the first time “TPIR” has appeared in primetime with Drew Carey as host, the newspaper reports.
Actors Contract Negotiation Coming Soon
The Screen Actors Guild is prepping itself for its own contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, leaving Hollywood wishing against a case of strike déjà vu, Daily Variety reports. Supportive of the Writers Guild of America since it began its strike in early November, SAG heads are set to show their support of the scribes this weekend during the Screen Actors Guild awards, the newspaper reports.
Enthusiasm Brimming Over Red Carpet Opportunity
Entertainment TV magazines like “Access Hollywood” and “Entertainment Tonight” are ready to have full coverage of the Screen Actors Guild awards this weekend, as the writers strike may leave the SAG Awards as the hottest ticket in town, the Hollywood Reporter says. The Writers Guild of America granted the SAG Awards a waiver, leaving it as one of the few awards shows that let the stars shine without fear of a picket. With the threat of a picketed Oscars, this leaves the SAG Awards currently as the big awards event, and entertainment TV magazines are pouring in resources to cover it, the Reporter says. “Entertainment Tonight’s” Mary Hart will be reporting from the event for the first time (as opposed to throwing it over to a field reporter from the studio), “Access Hollywood” will be streaming live interviews online, and “Inside Hollywood” is beefing up its camera positions, the newspaper reports.
‘Colbert,’ ‘Daily Show’ Writers Take to D.C.
Writers from “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report” staged a fake debate at a House hearing room Thursday, using comedy to highlight the Writers Guild of America’s issues with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the Los Angeles Times reports. Writers from “The Daily Show” played WGA members, while “Colbert Report” writers in suits portrayed the AMPTP, the newspaper says. About a half-dozen lawmakers showed up for the event in support, some even sporting fake “strike beards,” the newspaper says.

  8. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

  9. This really is what I needed. Much appreciated.
