NBC is giving “30 Rock” a time-slot upgrade.
The Tina Fey comedy, which just snagged a comedy-series record 17 Emmy nominations, will move to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays this fall, people familiar with the network’s scheduling plans said over the weekend.
New comedy “Kath and Kim,” which had been set to inherit the post-“Office” time period, will air Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. After seeing more scripts for the show, NBC executives decided “Kath and Kim” was compatible with 8 p.m. series “My Name Is Earl.”
“Kath and Kim,” based on an Australian hit series, has experienced some behind-the-scenes changes recently. Director Paul Feig has left the project, forcing NBC to reshoot a few scenes in the pilot, Entertainment Weekly reported on its Web site last week.
NBC will air three “Saturday Night Live” election specials in the 9:30 p.m. time slot for three weeks in October. “30 Rock” is scheduled to have its third season premiere on Oct. 30.
