The CW is thumbing its nose at tradition, kicking off its new lineup opposite some major TV events.
The network’s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday programming will kick off the first week of September—directly opposite the Republican National Convention.
Meanwhile, the network’s Sunday night lineup—funded by indie studio Media Rights Capital— will bow Sept. 21, the same night ABC broadcasts the Emmys.
CW’s rollout starts its fall launch with the Monday combo of “Gossip Girl” and “One Tree Hill,” which will bow on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1. That’s followed the next day by the two-hour premiere of “90210.”
New drama “Privileged” arrives a week later, on Tuesday, Sept. 9. “America’s Next Top Model” gets a two-hour season premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
The remainder of the CW lineup will roll out later in the month and in October.
Thursday night dramas “Smallville” and “Supernatural” come back on Sept. 18. Friday comedies “Everybody Hates Chris” and “The Game” premiere on Oct. 3. And reality newcomer “Stylista” will be saved until Wednesday, Oct. 29
As for the Sunday schedule, reality show “In Harm’s Way,” along with dramas “Valentine” and “Easy Money,” will premiere Sept. 21 at 7, 8 and 9 p.m., respectively.
MRC’s new comedy “Surviving Suburbia” arrives Sunday, Nov. 2. It will air at 7:30 p.m., with “In Harm’s Way” sliding back to 6:30 p.m.
