Background: Ms. Jarvis applied her degree in economics from the University of Chicago and additional study in Paris to early roles in currency trading and investment banking.

She gained national attention as the runner-up on the fourth installment of NBC’s “The Apprentice.” She also caught the eye of CNBC, which hired her in 2006 as an associate reporter. Since then, she’s been promoted to general assignment and reports from the NASDAQ MarketSite and the New York Mercantile Exchange. She also has written for such publications as Crain’s Chicago Business and Business 2.0 and is on the board of the Society of American Business Editors & Writers.

Buzz: Ms. Jarvis may be the Jennifer Hudson of “The Apprentice,” destined for a bigger career and higher profile than the winner of the show (Randall Pinkett). Those who work with her know she put “Apprentice” behind her, and that she’s working hard, convincing them her star is going to rise steadily and far.
