Tyler Perry Studios, WGA Make Deal

Nov 26, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Tyler Perry Studios and the Writers Guild of America have reached a contract agreement after more than five months of negotiations.
The WGA was the last union with which the independent production company needed to make a deal. Tyler Perry Studios already has reached deals with the Teamsters, IATSE, SAG, DGA and others.
“At a time when true independent producers like Mr. Perry are rare in this business, we congratulate him on his success and welcome his decision to become signatory to a WGA contract,” Patric M. Verrone, president of Writers Guild of America, West, said in a statement. “I also would like to thank Ben Jealous, NAACP national president and CEO, Vic Bulluck, executive director, NAACP Hollywood bureau, and Clayola Brown, national president of the A. Philip Randolph Institute, for their help during this negotiation.”
In October, former writers of TBS’ “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” picketed Mr. Perry’s studio opening in Atlanta, claiming that they were fired for a WGA union-organizing campaign.

  2. Good Morning and Happy New Year.
I am trying to find the e-mail address to Tyler Perry Studios. I am a 71 year (young) great grandmother who wants to submit a resume for work with the studio. I am a retired Federal Administrator, Federal Mediator and Child Welfare Caseworker who currently has the responsibility for four young grandchildren. I am currently substitute teaching in Clayton county (hardest job ever) and even though I absolutely have to work to support my grandchildren I would like to do something in the studio environment. I studied under the same drama teacher as Richard Pryor (Juliette Whitaker) in Peoria but did not pursue that avenue. I did department store modeling but mainly focused on my State of Illinois and U.S. government career. I am not interested in any acting positions, I would consider a clerical or like position, I just would like to leave the human service/education fields and work in an environment such as Tyler Perry Studios as a new and exciting career. Believe being with four children ages 9-14, I need a break. If you would just meet with me you would find that I have the stamina and experience to carry out any duties. Would like to share my resume with you.
    Thank You Very Much

  30. Keep focusing on your blog. I love how we can all express our feelings. This is an extremely nice blog here 🙂

  31. Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

  32. I love your blog.. very nice colors & theme. Did you create this website yourself or did you hire someone to do it for you? Plz reply back as I’m looking to create my own blog and would like to know wheere u got this from. thanks
