Chart: Occurrence of Time-Shifted Viewing

Mar 18, 2009  •  Post A Comment

The season premiere of several network shows came in January this year. In homes with TiVo digital video recorders, the most viewing of those shows came from people watching on a delayed basis. The chart below shows how long after the original broadcast time the shows were viewed. “Lost,” for example, had 27% of its viewing between three days and two weeks after it originally aired. None of that viewing was figured into the commercial ratings that are used to determine advertising revenues.
