CNN Ratings Down; Fox, MSNBC Grow

Mar 31, 2009  •  Post A Comment

CNN bled primetime ratings points in the first quarter of 2009 and Fox News Channel led the cable news networks on several fronts during a news cycle marked by the beginning of President Barack Obama’s administration and a global economic crisis.
Among the three major cable news networks, Fox News averaged 2.3 million viewers during primetime in the first quarter, according to Nielsen Media Research. The network had its third best quarter in primetime viewership, behind the fourth quarter of 2008 (presidential election coverage) and the third quarter of 2005 (Hurricane Katrina coverage). CNN averaged 1.1 million viewers, while MSNBC had about 950,000. Compared with last year, Fox News rose 24%, CNN declined 10% and MSNBC was up 22%.
For the total day, Fox News led with 1.2 million viewers, followed by CNN with 740,000 and MSNBC with 473,000. All three networks saw increases for total viewership for the day over the first quarter of 2008, with Fox News up 26%, CNN up 17% and MSNBC up 20%.
Among the key adults 25-54 demographic, Fox News was also the highest ranked in both total-day and primetime averages. The network finished the quarter with an average 511,000 viewers in the demo during primetime, up 19% from last year, and 317,000 for the total day, up 23%. CNN was, again, the only one to take a dip in primetime, averaging 343,000 viewers 25-54, down 22% from last year, and 236,000 viewers for total-day, up 7%. MSNBC tied CNN in primetime average viewers in the demo with 343,000, up 7% from last year, and 180,000 viewers in the demo, up 11%.
In all of cable, Fox News finished the quarter as the second-most-watched network in primetime, behind only USA Network. CNN ranked 17th, MSNBC placed 24th and HLN, CNN’s sister news channel, came in 30th. For the total programming day, Fox News was 5th, CNN was 14th and MSNBC was 28th.
Fox News also dominated the list of top news analysis programs, claiming nine of the top 10 spots. “The O’Reilly Factor” finished first, averaging 3.4 million viewers and posting a 27% gain over last year. “O’Reilly” also wrapped up the month of March with its 100th consecutive month in the No. 1 spot. Following “O’Reilly” in the top five were “Hannity” (2.7 million), “Glenn Beck” (2.2 million), “Special Report With Bret Baier” (2 million) and “The Fox Report With Shepard Smith” (1.9 million). MSNBC broke into the top 10 with “Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” which averaged 1.4 million viewers for the quarter.

  1. I love it that Olberdork is barely making it in to the top 10, what an idiot!!!

  2. I’m glad to see CNN declining. I used to watch them, but during the election season their afternoon and primetime shows turned overtly liberal and anti-Republican. I don’t care if they’re back to their self-proclaimed “straight news”, they violated my trust and I’m never going back. I’m sticking with Fox News; for the most part their liberal contributors are articulate and back up what they say (even if I don’t agree with it, which I usually don’t) instead of deflecting everything to blaming Republicans, and their conservative contributors are (obviously) not a buncha pushovers like the chumps at CNN.

  3. A major national cable provider, FIOS, is in negotiation with MSNBC. Until the negotiations are over, the cable provider is not carrying MSNBC. I’m just curious, does anyone know how this has impacted MSNBC ratings?

  4. This is great news! I’ve seen some left-leaning reports listing reasons for the decline of CNN as they are too politically neutral. Are they serious! CNN is left of center and slant or spin EVERYTHING conservative! Do people actually watch PMSNBC? What a joke they are. Congrats to Fox News! O’Reilly is great and fun to watch too.

  5. FOX? News? That is one of the greatest oxymoron of all time. Tony: Wake up! The Republicans ran the show for the last 8 years. Look at where we are now. None of this can be blamed on Obama in light of the fact that he hasn’t yet had a chance for his policies to work. The rampant fear-mongering that is done over at FOX is setting a coarse towards the division of this contry.

  6. After watching most of the Tea party coverage on Fox, NBC,CNN and MSNBC I was flabbergasted by the total and complete absence of any and all visible minorities?? What I did observe was a diversity of radicalized disenfranchised and in some cases secessionist NeoCon bunch of folks…. Disturbing was though where the Governor of the State of Texas was openly courting the the secessionist movement… Such a dance with the proverbial Devil may unleash something you wont be able to contain Governor … Then the Glen Beck inflamed and enabled 2nd amendment protesters had a field day and in my opinion are going to be instrumental in what I see as an emerging domestic insurgency. Most if not all of these people that showed up for these “what Fox keeps on insisting is a grass roots movement “ rhetoric filled Fox driven gatherings was quite apparent by the graphics and slogans carried around by some of these people involved… One sign that was splashed on the screen repeatedly on the Fox network and others was a individual with his back turned to the camera that read HANG EM HIGH with the names of current sitting“and one not so current “ senators. Is there not some law for making threats against public elected Officials??
Here is my prediction for all of this… This to Fox news your inflaming and radicalizing of the fringe hard right may com to haunt you as I am sure that one or more of some of these disenfranchised and wrongly enabled individuals will no doubt resort to violence… Then what are you going to do?? Don`t answer that we all know what the answer is going to be … We are not responsible for the actions of one single individual or a small group of radicals… I hope you will be able to say that to the widows and the children of these individuals.. Do I need to remind you that 3 Police officers got shot because of an individual that was enabled and radicalized by your false statements circumstancing the second amendment where you completely fabricated the story that Obama was going to take your Guns away?? Shame on you Fox shame on you .. I hope the widows of these fine Police Officers are going to take your organization to court in fact I would donate to towards such an endeavor…

  7. To Rush LIMPBRAIN
In the years that Bush was in power I had lots of things that I wished he was doing different and consequently I criticized him him on many occasions.. However at no turn did I ever wished for him to fail that would be un American
Any one that say`s that they want the president to fail to either prove a point or to further a political Agenda is in my opinion not only a UnAmerican but a Traitor. How can any one in there right mind want the Nation to fail for some stupid political believe… If you truly believe in our Nation then you will never say stupid stuff like that…
It deeply offends me to hear “ and I don`t care what your political affiliations are“ say I want the Nation or the President to fail… It is against everything this Nation was built on and if you think that is the best way to express yourself then you need to take a step back and really need to ask yourself what the hell am I doing here…

  8. What does Glen Beck and Osama Bin Laden have in common..
Well take Glen Beck`s comments for instance on the 2nd amendment where he states that the current administration is going to take your right to own guns away full well knowing that this is going to produce an anxiety within those that long held the view that government anything other then a Republican is evil. Then this will trigger a narrowing of conscious to the point where it will become justifiable for those type of individuals to commit mass murder..
Osama Bin Laden uses the same tactics by the same type of fear mongering where the mantra is you have to take up arms to defend Islam from the those Evil westerners as they have nothing more in mind to do away with our religion. It therefore becomes okay to kill indiscriminately in the name of god. Same narrowing of conscious.
Mr Glen Beck you should be ashamed of yourself for the things you say on the Fox distortion channel for your own aggrandizement.
It`s deplorable when we both know that you will walk away from the repercussions and not blink an eye or lose a nights sleep
All this Mr Beck tells me that you are null and void of anything that could be confused for a conscious.

  9. Hey Ann Coulter I visited your website today and I would like to extend my invitation to post your deranged and lack of a better word Totally F*ck*d view points here. It would be interesting would it not? You can post your stuff and we could counter without the fear of a moderator that on your website intervenes when ever there is any type of disagreement with your deranged writings.
You could tell us how you think the Democrats are going to change the 2nd amendment for instance and you could tell all your supporters that they are going to lose there guns.. And after a little while we could be talking about all the repercussions of your antics. Like how many policeman have gotten killed by your inflammatory and false statements circumstancing the 2nd amendment. You of course can and will be denying any culpability that would remotely place you in the circle where one could be accused of having conscious.
Or you could be telling us how you and the Fox network have manipulated the Republican Party to it’s present form of obscurity.
We would tell you that your Fascistic Agenda is to blame and that there is no hope in hell to reverse your crazy and deranged methodology ..
Come on Ann it will be fun you can express your puny and F@ck*dup view points and all your other crap here without the fear of having your posts removed.
You could see how your words affect those that are on the brink of Insanity to commit mass murder. And after the killing spree you could call it collateral damage.
Unless you are a chicken sh!t and cant really operate in a environment where you are going to be challenged.
Come on Ann we would love to have you here………

  10. Now here was Glen Beck falsely telling the viewers that Obama was planning to change the second amendment to take your Guns away with total disregard of what the consequences might be right. Then last night he had some guy on his show from the NRA. and with this individual he lamented that Obama left this uncertainty on the table because he had not answered Becks rhetoric. Then he goes on saying that all Obama had to do to diffuse the situation was to televise a response that he was NOT GOING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY.. Let me get this straight Mr Beck .. You go on a national televised show and start a falsehood and then when you become aware of how precarious the situation that YOU created has become you make it Obama’s problem …
You Mr Beck are the only one that is responsible for this fiasco if some fringe lunatic enabled by YOU and radicalized by YOU decides to go on a killing spree..
    You Mr Beck are despicable

  11. To PAul
    PAul,
Bush was not responsible for the economic decline. If anything, he tried to stop it. We had economic growth up until 2007, one year after the Dems won majorities in the House and Senate. Barny Frank is the one most responsible for the crash of the housing market and the economic decline. In order to promote fairness, Fannie May and Freddie Mac lowered there credit standards for home ownership. It was not unusual to see loans approved with a FICO score of 400 or less. Many of the unqualified home owners defaulted on these loans, driving home values down very quickly. The Banks were hurt in Two ways. First, they were forced (Community Reinvestment Act) years ago to fund these bad loans. Second, they lost interest revenue and were now the owners of devalued properties. Even your president states it was Bushes fault, but that is not the whole truth. By the way, if you do your home work, you will see what I have seen. And to return to topic, CNN’s ratings are falling because of their Left Wing Slant. Even the Major “Liberal” news papers are failing. If Fox News Were to put out an actual News Paper, their readership would be unbelievable. Mark my words.
    With all due respect,
    Gerald
    Dem turned Republican

  12. To Gerald
    Your wrote
“Bush was not responsible for the economic decline. If anything, he tried to stop it.”
    1) This Gerald is a complete misrepresentation of the facts First of all. Bush catered to the deregulation crowd throughout his 1st and 2nd terms. Then after 9/11 he and Dick Cheney fabricated Intelligence that had us thrown into a War in Iraq that has costs us well in excess of 1.6 trillion dollars so far and counting.
Nothing was done by Bush to cover these shortfalls ie. raising taxes or increase the money supply.
You then went on with more falsehoods.
” We had economic growth up until 2007, one year after the Dems won majorities in the House and Senate. Barny Frank is the one most responsible for the crash of the housing market and the economic decline.”
2)Your choice of words is curious at BEST by calling it a “Economic slowdown”. The reality of the matter is that it is a Bush generated economic Disaster of epic proportions. Now with that said let me explain. The lack of a regulatory framework and or plain regulation in the mortgage Industry “that Bush did not want to regulate” Was the primary cause for the financial disaster. Coupled with the fact of the enormous strain on the money supply because of the war in Iraq the credit markets started to dry up. Bush knew this long before secretary Paulson came running out of the white with his hair on fire that the economy was about to collapse. Fanie May and Freddy Mac and all other financial lending institutions where part of this I agree but the main cause was still a financial market that did not have a viable framework to regulate it so that it would not over leverage itself.. These institution where driven by huge potential profit margins that where generated by these loans and bundled security’s
    Then you wrote this
In order to promote fairness, Fannie May and Freddie Mac lowered there credit standards for home ownership. It was not unusual to see loans approved with a FICO score of 400 or less. Many of the unqualified home owners defaulted on these loans, driving home values down very quickly.
3)While this is somewhat true It is much more complicated then what you are describing here.
Most of the mortgages where sold at local Banks and other financial institutions that bundled these mortgages along with the SWAPS and then sold re bundled in most cases and then resold. This process had very little to do with Freddy Mac and or Fannie May.. More over a lot of these mortgage backed bundled security’s ended up in the hands of foreign banks and financial institutions because there was no way to sell them here as Bush was draining the economy of any and all liquidity with an hugely expensive War in Iraq. So the reality of it all is that the banks that issued these mortgages could do so without any impunity as they where sold before the Ink on these mortgage contracts was dry and thus avoiding all the risk that would be associated if they went sour..
This then below is a classic Bill O’Reilly Myth…
The Banks were hurt in Two ways. First, they were forced (Community Reinvestment Act) years ago to fund these bad loans.
4)You have got to be kidding with that right…
The Community Reinvestment Act, passed in 1977, requires banks to lend in the low-income neighborhoods where they take deposits. Just the idea that a lending crisis created from 2004 to 2007 was caused by a 1977 law is silly. But it’s even more ridiculous when you consider that most subprime loans were made by firms that aren’t subject to the CRA. University of Michigan law professor Michael Barr testified back in February before the House Committee on Financial Services that 50% of subprime loans were made by mortgage service companies not subject to comprehensive federal supervision and another 30% were made by affiliates of banks or thrifts which are not subject to routine supervision or examinations. As former Fed Governor Ned Gramlich said in an August, 2007, speech shortly before he passed away: “In the subprime market where we badly need supervision, a majority of loans are made with very little supervision. It is like a city with a murder law, but no cops on the beat.” And that is what a lack of regulation has accomplished.. Again BUSH more BUSH and all BUSH and deregulation
5)The rest of your your post is not worth to be dignified with a response… But I will say this ..You sound like a Parrot for the Fox slander network and it is with that in mind I have come to the conclusion that you are not what you say you are “Dem turned Republican” but rather a hard core Neo Con Republican and been so all your uneducated life.
    Have a nice day

  13. Da News: You are a windbag… liberals blame guns for the problem and not the mutants that do it. You are not taking away any gun-rights. The Tea Party was a HUGE success and will continue and this fake president we have who STILL cannot show us his birth certificate ALREADY has made Bush look like a fiscal conservative. You do not want to debate Ann Coulter- she would destroy you on everything. And stop being so jealous of Fox News because they KICK the ass of that worthless station known as MSLSD with that moron Keith Super Bore. This non-news ass is making sexual references about a serious issue… but liberals are usually low-class scumbags and TOTAL hypocrites. And to those who yell the usual race crap, well, give us a break. The Tea Party I was at had plenty of “people of color’- or whatever the PC term is of the day. Maybe those people of color are the RACISTS because it may mean Obama is viewed in a bad light? Yeah, I think so. The bottom line is we are SICK of having our pockets picked. What makes me laugh even more is it is in the liberal states where it is the worst. I guess you morons want more of it, huh? And the Republican Party is/will come back very strong. By next year this fake president’s agenda will be done and gone due to the 2010 election and his socialist agenda/illegal alien amnesty agenda will be frozen. Even in states like NY and New Jersey the liberal govs. are GOING DOWN. I guess libtards like to keep handing their money over to the gov’t and GET NOTHING in return. Fox RULES and it ain’t changing. Only good thing about CNN is Lou Dobbs and MSNBC is the most worthless junk EVER put out. EVER. Shut it down it is so bad…

  14. To Bill and his deranged post..
Watch much Fox and Glen Beck. Bill?? I would think so judging by your ludicrous post.. First of Bill Obama has never said that he was going to take your guns away… This was a myth created by Fox news and more precisely Glen Beck. The Tea Party Bill was a flop specially when you consider how much propaganda and air time was devoted by the Fox network it only attracted maybe “and that is a big maybe” 200000 all hard core and extreme Neo Con individuals.. Example “paying attention Bill” An individual that carried a sign around stating “HANG EM HIGH” followed by names of current sitting senators “and one not so current” That now Bill is bordering Anarchy.. there are many other examples I could go into but it would be a waste of my time “much like you are”
Then Bill the Obama birth certificate slander “initiated and propagated by FOX” has been debunked many times over.. It however has been made into an ongoing issue by those that try to enable and radicalize disenfranchised individuals like yourself. On the subject of Bush you need to read my posts here and then go back to school to achieve a level of comprehension that will allow you to actually understand some of the economic data presented there.
On the Subject of Ann Coulter I have blogged on her web site but when contradicting any of her deranged/racist points of view the moderator steps in to either erase your post or deny entrance to the posting area. Trust me Bill when I tell you this: Ann Coulter will never venture outside of her comfort zone because she is a drive by character assassination artist and above all a coward. So the chances of a head on discussion are slim to none. Also Bill I am hardly Jealous of the Fox station I really don’t care about how big the ratings for them get..And you are not taking into consideration that a lot of people like myself watch Fox not because we like them but rather to gather information to stop the distortions that are initiated and propagated at the FOX slander machine.
Your assertion that there where lots of people of color at the Tea Party you where at cannot be verified unless you can post unequivocal proof of such assertions. I have watched all televised Tea party gatherings including the fox televised Tea party’s. and never saw any minority’s. This Bill tells me that what ever there is left of the Republican Party is only a minuscule radicalized hard right wing where there is no dialog possible other then the usual Obama is evil statements.
Last but not least your statement where you proclaimed to be “tired of having your pockets picked” is somewhat flabbergasting to me. The reason is this: You hardly sound like a person that could be considered and or accused of being in the possession of enough intellect that would enable you to earn over $250k a year so with that said this would give you a decrease in taxes under the Obama plan.
The rest of your post is to shallow on substance and therefore a waste of my time to be responding to.
    Have a nice Day

  15. Ahh, I love how slavishly some folks just have stick to their liberal masters. They toon in to the Daily Kos or PMSNBC for their daily down load of what to think. If you some how delude yourself into thinking that the lamestream media coverage was at all fair then that just means you are all ready lost. Their is a reason FOX is number one but that doesn’t matter to you, you sip your kool-aid wrap yourself in the fantasy that the liberal-fringe that has swooped in to DC are the best the country has to offer. I understand why FOX and the TEA parties scare you, because it means your precious little ACORN, every ones favorite rent-a-mob, is going to have competition. Don’t worry, you can always hop a flight Hugo’s little dictatorship if you still want to live out your socialistic dreams. see ya.

  16. To the DICKWAD above that seems to be void of a cranial cavity to be able to come up with a name that does not amount to grade 3 school yard name calling…
Your post is all Fox rhetoric and completely void of any and all substance that would be consistent with the above mentioned cranial cavity.
It would be advisable for you to engage in some form of education to enhance your grade 3 level of comprehension and thus to be able to form a opinion that is not conceived within the confines of your deranged and lunatic fringe Neo Con friends.
With that said… YOU ARE AN IMBECILE….

  17. CNN is not going down when it comes to true facts CNN is the news to watch. Now foxs news got older and far right people who which them faithfully and msnbc news got yong far left people watch them even do the ED show is going to give msnbc big points just like glen back gave foxs big points. but when young people and old people different color people want true facts they watch cnn the 1 news channel.

  18. to Desirea
You are right with your assessment of Fox vs CNN..
CNN has debunked a lot of the falsehoods and lies that Fox spews out on a regular basis.. Above all Fox courts the older Republican/Neo Con generation and speaks exclusively to them. Also it is fair to say that they have marginalized the the Republican party further into Obscurity with this ever increasing hard right Neo Con rhetoric.

  19. Here is my view: Fox is claiming the number one spot because the so called conservatives are so closed mind that they don’t even consider listening to others. On the other hand, the so called lebirals are willing to listen to others even if they know that they won’t agree with them. That’s why the so called libral viewers are spread all over tv cable channels: CNN, MSNBC, and also Fox news. I watch Fox news. I enjoy the entertaining aspect of O’Reilly. And I laugh at the simple minded Hannity.

  20. Fox New Channel – #1 cable ratings across the board
Liberty & Tyranny – #1 book on NY Times
Tea Parties – 500,000 people nation wide
This just shows the conservative movement is alive and well.
    God bless the USA

  21. DaNews, I really enjoyed reading this debate. It is so obvious that you do not watch Fox—-they have never addressed the birth issue—wish they would, that would be fun. You never went to a Tea Party either as there is total bi-partisanship and lots of black protesters carrying signs that read blacks against Obama. If the only thing you do is watch CNN and MSNBC your in the minority–just look at the ratings. Try taking some economic classes and reading the views of Obama from foriegn newspapers. Oh Yes to set the record straight over 1,000,000 in tea party attendees and still counting. You sound like a CNN newscaster without facts.

  22. I’m sorry to say but CNN and MSNBC have lost almost all of the Conservative Democrat’s.
MSNBC especially have gone so far out there it’s sick. If I wanted to hear my own opinions regurgitated over and over again or be told what I should think or else I’m a loser I would keep watching MSNBC.
I checked out FOX because the other two Networks kept saying they were basically the antichrist, I had to see what that was about! What I found was that FOX actually reported the news, who knew that was still being done? I don’t agree with them sometimes but at least I feel free to draw my own opinion without being made to feel I’m taking sides.

  23. To Truther
Clearly you are not reading my posts or cant understand what they say. Here is a excerpt from a post above where I state that I do watch FOX and why.
” I really don’t care about how big the ratings for them get..And you are not taking into consideration that a lot of people like myself watch Fox not because we like them but rather to gather information to stop the distortions that are initiated and propagated at the FOX slander machine.”
Your statement concerning that there where lots of visible minority’s at the Tea Party rally’s that you attended is a hollow statement at best in view of all the televised Tea Party events that had no visible minority’s in any of them and I have watched on all stations including Fox.. Maybe you want to provide evidence of such alleged visible minority attendance.
Your insinuation that the Tea party’s was a Bi partisan event … Again bring the proof of this as I had seen nothing more then a bunch of people that where either hard right radicals or Republican Obama haters.
Your claim of 1000000 attendees at these Tea party’s is a false and a complete distortion of the real numbers.. But maybe you would like to provide some evidence other then the distorted Fox counts.
If you have anything that can be considered viable and or intelligible on the economic data that I have presented in my earlier posts other then your statement =”Try taking some economic classes and reading the views of Obama from foriegn newspapers.”= that is lacking any and all argument that could be considered of any value I will be waiting for it.
In addendum I would like to point out that it is spelled foreign and not “foriegn”
    Have a nice day

  24. To Kim North.
Where is it that you can say that you are not free to form an opinion when you watch any news channel?? I watch Fox,CNN.MSNBC and a host of others but never have I felt that I cant form my own opinion… Moreover you should watch all news channels and read as much editorials as you can if you are so concerned with forming your own opinion.
    Have a nice day

  25. ======Dark days in Washington=====
With the release of the much anticipated Torture Memos came praise from democrats criticism from what is left of the Republican party and warnings from former CIA director General Michael Hayden and others.
The criticism from Michael Hayden can be characterized as predictable as he and others would be indictable for braking the Law.
The objections by the Republican Party concerning the release of the Torture Memos is understandable as it would further damage the Party and relegate it to much greater Obscurity then what it is now.
Democrats are for the release and have expressed two different opinions as what to do with these memos.
    1) The do not prosecute camp.
    2) The Indict and prosecute camp
This whole affair has created a dilemma for the whole Nation. Personally I am glad that Obama had the courage to release these Memos. But this is far from over as I can see that Congress most likely will move to bring this whole affair in front of a committee.
There is a inherent danger in not prosecuting the individuals involved as this will send a clear signal to future administrations that this is acceptable behavior. Prosecution could be problematic in who to prosecute and how far you need to go up the chain.
Surely there is a strong case that can be made against the individuals that did the actual torturing. Then there is Bush Cheney Rize and most likely a whole host of others that where involved with either authorizing or developing this strategy including the lawyers that where involved in writing the legal documentation to give this whole affair some form legitimacy albeit it be still illegitimate..
    Three questions come to mind
    1) If we prosecute then how far do we go up the chain and who should we prosecute.
2)If we do prosecute then what will happen to our international profile.
    3) If prosecution would take place what would this do to the current administration.
Clearly if prosecution was to take place all that had either knowledge or where directly and or indirectly involved with the execution of these orders plus all those that signed the orders would have to be indicted up to and including GW Bush. That (Iam sure) would involve a huge amount of people and thus could create a problem in itself for the Obama administration as it could bog it down in the ensuing melee. This would not be a good thing as the current administration will need to focus on the problems of the Nation such as solving the current financial crisis and a host of other things that have been neglected and or wrongly handled by the Bush administration.
But on the other hand if we do not prosecute it could bring down our international profile as a leader of the free world and undermine current and future efforts in the Human Rights arena not to speak of the National stage where we are dealing with corrupt elected officials such as the Blagojevich affair as this in itself would create what could be considered as a double standard for crimes committed in office by Presidents vs Governors/Senators..
As for myself I hold the opinion that it is indictable but I have reservations about whether to proceed with prosecution
The thing that concerns me is how many other dark secrets are still left out there that have not been uncovered as of yet concerning the Bush administration. Time will tell hopefully…

  26. I love Fox News. I once took an IQ test and I scored highest in common sense. I think that’s why Fox News appeals to me. Their viewpoint are so common sense. Obama’s budget is counterintuitive. I was taught in my liberal education that Roosevelt’s overspending shortened the depression but other thinkers are now challenging that assumption. If a family can’t spend themselves out of a depression in the family budget then how does it make sense that the government should be able to do that. They are just passing the debt on to our kids. What if parents passed personal debt to their kids. That would not be honorable. Their kids would be slaves to the parent’s inability to control their habits. I am really disappointed in CNN’s coverage of the Tea Parties. I was there and I can say they were not racist or violent. It was people wanting to return to this country’s founding principles. Jefferson said people should be allowed to keep what they earn. The American Revolution started with a tax revolt and was against government control of every facet of life. For example, I have four cats that I got from shelters. The local governments beg people to take animals from shelters. I get charged $40.00 a year tax on my cats, just for taking them off the county’s hands. I would take a fifth cat. But if I do I will get charged a “kennel fee” even though I do not have a kennel. So I don’t get the fifth cat and a cat dies needlessly. As long as I am taking care of my cats, what possible business is it of the government how many I have? That’s the kind of thing the patiot’s were against. Remember, it blew up when they put a “luxury tax” on tea, just like the ones they now want to put on cigarettes and beer. Onward New American Revolutionaries – We Shall Overcome. Yes We Can, Yes We Will, Yes We Must.

  27. To Diane Gregg
    You wrote this
“I love Fox News. I once took an IQ test and I scored highest in common sense. I think that’s why Fox News appeals to me.Their viewpoint are so common sense.”
You love Fox news you say because you have common sense.. Maybe you would like to define common sense as your common sense has failed you miserably if Fox appeals to you. Fox slanders fabricates lies and distorts there so called news story’s into existence by carefully manipulating people (like yourself) perception of what reality is. Case in point: Glen Beck’s Lie of how Obama was going to take your guns away. This is not true and therefore is a down out right lie. There are many other examples you can find on:
    http://foxattacks.com/?disqus_reply=7716828#comment-7716828
Obama’s budget is counterintuitive. I was taught in my liberal education that Roosevelt’s overspending shortened the depression but other thinkers are now challenging that assumption.
How can you be taken serious if you cant even get the history right ??? But here is the historical account of the response by HOOVER and not Rosevelt The initial government response to the Great Depression was ineffective, as President Hoover insisted that the economy was sound and that prosperity would soon return. Hoover believed the basic need was to restore public confidence so businesses would begin to invest and expand production, providing jobs and income to restore the economy to health. But business owners saw no reason to increase production while unsold goods clogged their shelves. By 1932 investment had dropped to less than 5 percent of its 1929 level.
Convinced that a balanced federal budget was essential to restoring business confidence, Hoover sought to cut government spending and raise taxes. But in the face of a collapsing economy, this served only to reduce demand further. As conditions worsened, Hoover’s administration eventually provided emergency loans to banks and industry, expanded public works, and helped states offer relief. But it was too little, too late.
The epitome of a “self-made man,” Hoover believed in individualism and self-reliance. As more and more Americans lost jobs and faced hunger, Hoover asserted that “mutual self-help through voluntary giving” was the way to meet people’s needs. Private giving increased greatly, reaching a record high in 1932, but charitable organizations were overwhelmed by the enormous number of people in need. To many, government assistance seemed the only answer, but Hoover was convinced that giving federal relief payments would undermine recipients’ self-reliance, and he resisted this step throughout his term.
The tension between citizens seeking government action and Hoover’s administration came to a head in June 1932. More than 20,000 World War I veterans marched on Washington, D.C., to ask for early payment of government bonuses they had been promised. But the government refused, and when some members of the so-called Bonus Army didn’t leave the capital, federal troops used tear gas and bayonets to evict the men and their families (see Bonus March).
Hoover and most of his Republican Party firmly supported protective tariffs to block imports and stimulate the American economy by increasing sales of American-made products. In 1930 they enacted the Hawley-Smoot Tariff, which established the highest average tariff in American history. This was a crushing blow to European economies, which were already sinking into depression. Other nations retaliated by raising their own tariffs. This action helped to worsen and spread the depression by choking off international trade. Between 1929 and 1932 the total value of world trade had declined by more than half.
Maybe you would like to provide some names and links or examples of your view on the Great depression
    You then wrote this.
“If a family can’t spend themselves out of a depression in the family budget then how does it make sense that the government should be able to do that.”
This over simplistic view of a now Global Economy is childish.
Governments always have a income not so in the case of a family when there is no employment to be had. Governments throughout history have softened the blows of economic recessions. By increasing spending. But just let refer you to the Item above.
Then you wrote this insane piece
” I am really disappointed in CNN’s coverage of the Tea Parties. I was there and I can say they were not racist or violent. It was people wanting to return to this country’s founding principles. Jefferson said people should be allowed to keep what they earn. The American Revolution started with a tax revolt and was against government control of every facet of life.”
The Tea party’s where Initiated and propagated by the Fox news network and is not the grass roots movement that Fox say’s it is.. And to compare the time of Jefferson with today’s economy and social reality’s is lunacy as we live a radical different world and or reality.
” For example, I have four cats that I got from shelters. That’s the kind of thing the patiot’s were against.”
I have admiration for your compassion towards animals as I my self are a animal lover… However the problems that you are describing here are not problems of a federal nature and should be addressed with your local and or state government officials.
    Then you wrote this?????
Remember, it blew up when they put a “luxury tax” on tea, just like the ones they now want to put on cigarettes and beer. Onward New American Revolutionaries – We Shall Overcome. Yes We Can, Yes We Will, Yes We Must.
Sounds like you are Rebel without a clue..

  28. I’m curious…
Does DaNews realize part of OUR soldiers training was/is to actually partake in these “torture” exercises, in order to prepare themselves in case they became prisoners themselves.
Does this mean they should be brought up on charges for torturing each other????
I’m looking forward to your long winded response after you research your answer.

  29. To meOmy.
Here then is my short winded post to your short brained post.
I take it that you are referring to “SERE” and just in case you and maybe others that may read this post don’t know what that means it stands for “Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Escape training”
A post where you blatantly admit not understanding the difference between consensual and the non consensual is an admittance that you lack moral judgment and or conscious.
Your deranged analogy amounts to the same thing in this example: ” You have sex with your wife and The Rapist raped some girl. Should you get charged with rape”
See where I am going with this?
I truly hope that you have not engaged in the act of procreation to produce offspring As the thought of that is horrifying with your lack of understanding between right and wrong…
    Have a nice day

  30. DaNews…It’s individuals with hate like yours that encourages the left to disarm Americans…you alone scares me more than the Tea Partys…you ever have your blood pressure checked? hmm hmm hmmmm

  31. Fox news is #1 in ratings. So!!! The last time I checked, being #1 in ratings do not make you Commander in Chief nor does it give you ANY Chairmanships in congress where the real power is. And lastly,CNN and MSNBC combined have more viewers than Fox news, so because Fox news is the place where Klan members gather; BIG DEAL. YOU HAVE NOOOOOOOOOO POWER!!!!!!!!!

  32. To Luvit..
Maybe you would like to point out where I made a statement that would agree with this crazy assessment
    You wrote
“DaNews…It’s individuals with hate like yours that encourages the left to disarm Americans…”
Again never in any of my posts have I attacked the second Amendment. The fear mongering that has taken place on the Fox network circumstancing the second amendment rights are nothing more then LIES initiated and propagated by none other then Glen Beck
There is no current and or future consideration in changing the Second Amendment rights by the liberal Caucus. But maybe you would like to offer some proof of the assertion that there is.
You sound like a parrot for the Fox network to me.
    Then you continued with this
you alone scares me more than the Tea Party’s…
If I scare you more then the tea party’s then you are also admitting that the tea party’s are scary to you as well. GOOD They should scare you, as it is nothing more then a group of just plain radicals that showed up at these rally’s. IE. secessionists (Texas primarily) Signs that made treats against current sitting Senators ( HANG EM HIGH)and many others
If those things (that border on anarchy) do not scare you then maybe you are an anarchist yourself.
Hate to tell you but I don’t Hate anyone … Not even you… Because I believe in free speech even if it is deranged. Isn’t democracy great..
    Have a nice day

  33. I grew up watching NBC news and then CNN from High School, through College and my early adult years. After living and working in Germany for 5 years, not on a military assignment, I returned to the US in March of 2007. My shock and dismay at the weak content, a clear lack of any reporting or investigating at CNN, NBC, ABC,MSNBC, etc…, was depressing. I am a loyal Fox viewer, yes they are fair and balanced, many people can not recognize or accept this because the flood of skewed and slanted reporting at other networks seems ” normal” and these networks have strong brands and historical credibility. These networks lost their way, chased ratings and abandonden television journalism and replaced it with news magazine coverage that is inaccurate, dishonest and at times insulting to ones intelligence.

  34. To DaNews:
I was just reading through the posts here to only discover you defending yourself mostly. I wonder why that is?
As I went down the posts it seems to me you get even more frustrated, I wonder why that is?
Honestly it seems to me you work for one of these stations.
Hey I may not like Obama and the things he is continuing for Bush but I know one thing watching CNN and MSNBC makes me sick. Even Fox being balanced can show a little bit to the right. However CNN and MSNBC are never close to the center for a second. They are so far left its not even news.
Also… Instead of degrading the people at the Tea Parties, embrace them as people trying to help you and get this country united and back to better times.

  35. To Justin
Where do you see I am defending myself ?? Maybe you would like to come up with an example…
So far all I have done is POST a comment and replied to the answers to those comments.
As far as your insinuation that I am working for one of these stations could not be further from the truth. The truth is that Fox has gone out of it’s way to misinform people and that my friend is counter productive to the Nation.. You need to do your homework on who is running Fox (Rupert Murdoch/ News Corp.). When you see and analyze the history of these individuals involved you would have a better understanding of why I say this.
The Tea Party’s proved to be a flop and entirely instigated and promoted by Fox. And with all that promoting that they did they clearly crossed the line from reporting (more like distorting) to advocacy. Read my previous posts on the subject.
Fox is the only news station that went to court for the right to LIE in the crap they report.
Do the research and you will out..
Check this web site out maybe you will get a better understanding of what it is that I am trying to communicate

  36. The reason Fox News has a large viewer ship is because Conservatives are generally better educated and actually even watch the news. Maybe if liberals cared or were better educated the viewer ship up Scumbags like Keith (MSNBC) would be much higher.

  37. Why do the liberals say over and over again the
Tea Party was a flop. I don’t get it. I attended 1 April 15th and I did not feel it was a flop. What was the intended purpose that did not happen. I thought we accomplished our goals.

  38. To Mary James ?? or is that Mary Jane???
Legitimate question I would think, specially when you post crap like this ==”The reason Fox News has a large viewer ship is because Conservatives are generally better educated and actually even watch the news”== would have me believe that you are on drugs.
Maybe you would like to substantiate that with intelligible DATA.
Here is my prediction for you ever producing that data and replying to this post… One word comes to mind NEVER…
That is what conservatives are so good at.. Make a unsubstantiated claim and never answer any challenges to those claims..
    Have a nice day

  39. I just watched Keith “I love to hear myself talk and use bigger words than you because I fashion myself an intellectual washed up ESPN nerd” Olbermann claim that Fox News is declining in every possible category. Apparently, he is as wrong as he is stupid. The liberals are so full of hate, aren’t they? During one of his riduclous railings against common sense and truth, Olbermann blasted a Warren County, Ohio county commisioner for refusing to accept Obama stimulus money. The commisioner said something along the lines of not wanting to accept money from the government because, as Ronald Reagan said, “government is not the solution, it’s the problem”. To which Olberfreak replied “Hey, guess what? Ronald Reagan is DEAD! And he was a bad president!” Hey Keith, why don’t you go back to overcommentating home runs and boring the audience to death with your inane ramblings on Sportcenter? Rest in peace, Ol’ Dutch. You were a GREAT president, a GREAT man, and if you were in charge now, the world would be a much better place. I could see the liberal reaction if O’Reilly or Hannity made some asinine comment about FDR being dead and a poor president. That is the difference between the liberal hate mongers and the classy conservative crowd, of which I am proud to be a member: we can disagree with you, and still conduct ourselves with respect. So hate us all you want, Keith. I’ll say a prayer for you tonight.
    God Bless America!

  40. To DaNews:
A while ago you said that the war in Iraq had cost $1.6 trillion and counting.
So what’s your opinion on Obama’s $3.6 trillion budget then?
    I’d elaborate but i have a 200 character limit…

Well Greg it would seem to me that you are limited in your cranial capacity as much as you are limited with your alleged 200 character limit.
With that said let me ask you a question.
What did you think of Bush’s last budget of 3.1 Trillion dollars??
See where I am going with this Greg?

  43. Glen Becks brainless attacks on environmentalists has reached a new height in stupidity in his last night’s show..
This man is so uninformed about these pressing issues that he is willing to talk about certain predictions that where made by individuals in the 1970 era. It’s unbelievable how he does not want to discuss current data and or relevant information concerning the environment..
    Here are some facts.
    1) Shrinking polar caps and glacial formations such as the Greenland ice shields.
2)A rapid increase since the start of the industrial revolution in the carbon monoxide content in the air not seen since (and has exceeded) since the last ice age.
    3) The increase in weather pasterns that are destructive. IE: Hurricanes, Tornado’s, drought and flooding.
    4) A measurable increase in the average temperature globally.
These are scientific verifiable stats and or measurements.
Mr Glenn Beck if you wish to debate those issues then stay within the confines of current and relevant data.
Your lunatic rants on these issues have done nothing but elevated you to a higher standard in stupidity and misinformation.

  44. When George W. Bush was the governor of Texas, the state investigated, indicted, convicted and sentenced to prison for 10 years a county sheriff who, with his deputies, had waterboarded a criminal suspect. That sheriff got no pardon from Gov. Bush.
So how come it was unpardonable then and it is not a crime while he was President.. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this……………

  45. I stopped watching the news when ALL of the news outlets barraged us with this “doom and gloom-depression era” stuff. Common sense says that if you are aware of it, that’s one thing, but to be constantly reminded of it, drives fear, which stopped us from spending. Yes, there was a problem with the real estate market, corporate handouts, etc. but to scare us from spending was the WORST thing that happened to our economy. As hard as it is to do, we have to squeek out a little frivolous spending to get us back into shape.

  46. I agree with you, Jane. There is a fine line between reporting the economic downturn, and pounding it into the damn ground. Fear = ratings, however, and the media are pretty darn good salespeople. If we bought consumer goods as much as we bought fear, we would see an economic SURPLUS! The other big problem, in my opinion, is the hate mongering liberals constantly blaming Bush for everything. Every chance Obama gets, he also sticks it to W. (Example: While addressing the swine flu concerns in a recent press conference, Obama couldn’t pass up the opportunity to heap some blame on the Republicans for abandoning scientific studies/funding). Assuming that what he says is even true, how the hell can you blame the republicans for the swine flu? Good Lord! Bush did a lot of things I disagree with, and I am a conservative. However, it’s not going to do any good to keep bashing the guy simply for the sake of bashing him. The bottom line is that capitalism works, communism and socialism do not, and the quicker we get back to good ol’ free market principles, the better off we will be.
    God Bless America!
    (Shut up, Olbermann)
    P.S. Ms. Garofaolo (sp?),
April 15 was not about “tea bagging rednecks and straight up racism”. Why is it that whenever one disagrees with a liberal’s point of view, that individual or group is labeled as a racist? (Or unpatriotic, Mr. Biden)? I am a proud conservative, I vehemently disagree with Obama, and guess what? I am not a racist!! (Or a redneck)! (Most of the people Garofaolo calls rednecks are actually decent, hard working people whose tax dollars are the backbone of this country). But because they don’t agree with Bolshevism, Marxism, or any other of her -isms, they MUST be racist retarded rednecks. Wow. Alan Keyes is a black man, and a fine Republican, who said Obama’s policies and radicalism would be the “end of the United States as we know it”. I guess Keyes is a racist. Or maybe HE suffers from Stockholm syndrome. It can’t be that he simply has an intelligent, dissenting opinion. Naw, that would be TOO easy, and TOO American for the left. Have a nice day! And Jane, fear not! Things WILL get better. Trust in the Lord, and in good ol’ common sense making a comeback. It’s happening as we speak, and I believe the next round of elections will prove me right. 2010 will see a major shift to the right. Like George Zimmer & Joe Namath once said, I guarantee it!

  47. To Mike
    You wrote
” The other big problem, in my opinion, is the hate mongering liberals constantly blaming Bush for everything.”
Well Mike it is like this. Bush ran the economy into the ground. In fact he made the same mistakes that Hoover “Republican” made in his administration. Then there is the Torture issue and the Illegal war in Iraq and the complete chocking off of scientific research that has kept this Nation at the technological forefront in the past. There are many more issues that the Republican agenda has run into the ground like stem cell research I could go on and on but hey why bother.
All of that was accomplished with fear mongering that the Republicans do so well.
Scientific research “oh brainless one” is what keeps this nation in the forefront and creates jobs in the Industry’s.
    then you wrote this garbage.
“how the hell can you blame the republicans for the swine flu?”
Nobody is blaming anyone for the Swine flu “IDIOT”
Maybe you would like to provide proof of that?
He is just blaming Bush’s chocking of scientific research in the molecular science arena that has caused us to fall behind in medical scientific research.
You really need to stop watching FOX it is beginning to rot your brain.
The rest of your post is nothing more then NEOCON spouting.. And therefore does not need to be dignified with a response.
    Have a nice day

  48. Today we witness the shrinking of the republican Party Welcome Senator Specter and thank you for leaving the dark side.

  49. Da News:
“Brainless one” & “Idiot”. That’s what you get when you disagree with the left.
Comrade Obama made the IMPLICATION that Republicans/Bush were responsible for undermining scientific research. He made his statement immediately after attempting to assuage fears of the oink oink flu. Not a DIRECT accusation…..but certainly an implication.
    Anywho,
“The rest of your post is nothing more then NEOCON spouting.. And therefore does not need to be dignified with a response.”
Translation: You don’t HAVE a response.
(DaNews frantically scwambles for his wemote contwol so he could watch MSNBC or wead the New York Times so he (or she)? could get some ammo to fight back! Oh Gawd!! Bush wuined this country!! I can’t get over it!! Oh, how could we tor-too the poor terrowists? Those poor, poor terrowists! Those people have mommy’s and daddy’s too!! How could the mean old bullies at the CIA tor-too those poor poor people?)
    Prescription for DaNews:
1.) Cancel your subscription to Pravda.
B.) Try not to feel sorry for people who enjoy sawing other people’s heads off.
C.) Don’t worry so much about global warming. If we cut down a few thousand acres of trees and build some more strip malls, maybe the resultant lack of foilage will allow the greenhouse gasses to escape harmlessly thru the giant ozone hole into space.
4.) Don’t hate me because I’m right. I pay my taxes, I open doors for little old ladies, and I try to be a nice guy sometimes
5.) Let go of the hate, Comrade! Stop living in the cable news universe. There is a whole other world out there (that is no doubt being polluted by those damn greedy industrialists and corporate…..oh, never mind).
F.) No matter how much you hate me, I will always love you and pray to the Lord Jesus to help you…I know I sure need His help.
    Have a great day!
    P.S. Shut up, Olbermann

  50. Hey Mike…. You accuse the “left” of being hateful,
not having a rational argument for their positions, and proceed to mock any position they may have with hateful jabs which is typical of a right wing “idiot”.
And to put the icing on the cake you have the cynical nerve to invoke Jesus as if he could ever possibly be on your side. Let me tell you something… true christians do not hate, nor do they judge, which pretty much excludes the right wing loud mouths like limmbaugh, hannity, levine, savage, and FUAX NEWS in general, and of course you. Good luck with your twisted view of the world, politics, and Jesus.

  51. Kevin,
Jesus could “possibly” do whatever He wants. He’s Jesus, moron.
Lighten up! I was having a little fun with DaNews. (Da, Comrade). Those weren’t hateful jabs! That was some funny, priceless stuff!!
It’s a little funny to me how you and people like DaNews can dish it out, but when someone has another opinion, or expresses a little humor, you guys freak out and attack!
True Christians do not hate or judge. Well, that is true, Kevin. Maybe you are mistaking an alternate point of view as a judgment. You know what this is all about?
    THE TRUTH HURTS.
If I wasn’t right, my brother, you wouldn’t be fuming so.
    Mike- 37
    Kevin & DaNews- 0
Aren’t YOU judging people like Hannnity, Limbaugh, etc?
Honestly, man….all politics aside, watch Olbermann for an hour, then watch Hannity. Whoever you agree with politically, fine. But tell me this objectively: Who levies the personal attacks? Who is spreading hate?
It’s one thing to state your disdain for the opposing political view. But COME ON, Kevin! Unless you are totally blind, you have to see that the left wing media makes an awful lot of PERSONAL attacks! Granted, these guys are paid to entertain, so God bless em, I guess. I just feel a twinge or two (or ten) of hate coming from the left. Sometimes the right is outta line too. (I don’t blindly follow anybody, pal. The “right” just happens to be more right! (In my humble opinion).
It’s possible to disagree with people and still have love in your heart. Even though you and DaNews are delusional, I would give you a glass of water on a hot summer day……or a coat in the cold harsh winter….
if I could afford one after the government taxes the crap out of me and forcibly contributes my hard earned dollars to lazy deadbeats (Oops! I must be a Satan-worshipping Nazi! I called a segment of society deadbeats!)
Guess what, Kevin? The Bible says if you don’t work, you don’t eat. You see, God wants people to work hard and be successful. He also wants people to be generous and loving. Generosity is a choice born of free will. Government taxation (especially at the levels we’re at and are about to see) is not free will; it is slavery. I don’t know about you, but I would rather be free.
    Best of luck to you.
    DaNews….where’d you go?
    God Bless us all!
    Shut up, Olbermann

  52. Your right wing crap does not need to be dignified with a response like I said before..And no it is not a lack of material that could be used to retort but rather your inability to distinguish between what is a blatant lie and bias.
    With that said
    GOD SAVE US FROM YOU..
    have a nice day

  53. To Mike
Your right wing Neo Con crap does not need to be dignified with a response like I said before..And no it is not a lack of material that could be used to retort but rather your inability to distinguish between what is a blatant lie and bias.
    With that said
    GOD SAVE US FROM YOU..
    have a nice day

  54. One more thing Mike..
These statements “Brainless one” & “Idiot”. are reserved for individuals like yourself and not because you are a Republican or hold fiscal conservative views.
You have not managed to retort on any of the points that I have made other then come with grade 3 school yard insults and then hide behind the BIBLE …Really Mike if you want to have a real debate about issues then I am all ears but if you continue with the crap that you have been posting I say seeya.. And good luck with that

  55. In my humble but true opinion, CNN lost all credibility during the election. They were the all-out DNN. Fox was fair and balanced and thank God didn’t do to Sarah Palin what DNN did. I never watch the DNN anymore except for the occasional Lou Dobbs program.
And we won’t even discuss that other station that begins with MS. that would be icky.
I like real news that FOX has. Closeted Cooper omits most stories because it doesn’ meet his liberal agenda.

  56. DaNews:
1.)You really haven’t made any points to retort. You accuse me and others who hold conservative viewpoints of being brainwashed by FOX News. Like I said, you need to leave the cable news universe and share some ORIGINAL thoughts, if you have any. To tell you the truth, I rarely watch any kind of news, or any kind of television at all. I’m too busy working. I also love watching reruns of Star Trek on DVD. When I DO watch news, I tune in to FOX because it really is much more fair and balanced than the other outlets. (Let me clarify: I USED to watch the news a lot more in the past than I do now. In fact, I used to tune in to CNN pretty regularly. The fact that they don’t know the meaning of objectivity spurred my fingers to press tiny remote control buttons, finally landing on FOX. “What is THIS all about?” I said aloud to no one in particluar. “Actual reporting, minimal opinion”. Jeepers!
2.) Point #1 was a lot longer than I originally intended.
3.) Those insults you referred to are way past grade 3. I’m thinking grade 7, at least.
4.) I don’t hide behind the Bible. The size differential makes it difficult.
5.) Having a debate would require having an opponent.
    6.) I wouldn’t be interested in bickering-political-left-right-my cable-news-network-is better-than-YOUR-cable-news-network-crap.
The truth of the matter is simple.
The debt that Barack Hussein Obama is piling on us is staggering. You could blame Bush, or Reagan (or Nixon, for God’s sake. How about THAT mouldy-oldie?) all you want. The truth is all of THAT crap is such a double standard. You blame Bush for everything that’s wrong, and give Obama and the Democrats credit for everything that is right (whatever THAT is). That’s the way it has always been, and probably always will be. Example: The economic prosperity of the 80’s spilled into the 90’s. Reagan didn’t get credit for that. Bill Clinton did. The truth is that a lot of the tax cuts and policies Reagan was responsible for took time to bear fruit. However, the person who is in office at the time gets the credit (or, if things are negative, the blame). We live in a microwave I need everything now society, and people rarely look past the immediate-now to see what might have caused things. (By the way, I would take Slick Willie over Barack Hussein Obama ANYDAY).
    (Whew!)
Barack Hussein Obama was influenced throughout his life by people who hate capitalism and hate America. (Frank Marshall Davis, Bill Ayers, The ever so friendly and charming Rev, Jeremiah Wright, etc.) His vision of America is a place where the stupid masses (like the lady who was televised saying that she didn’t have to worry about paying her rent or a car payment anymore because Obama was elected. I can’t remember her name, but I believe she was interviewed the day after the election) depend on the government for their next fix (welfare check, etc) like a bunch of drug addled lazy whacked out zombies who sit on their rear ends with their hands out. He is BREEDING dependency on the government. What better way to make sure that he and his cronies will be re-elected. If people become so dependent on the government to solve all of their problems, they will make sure that that very government stays around as long as possible.
You see, I believe that God created man (there I go, scurrying behind the Bible like a good little 3rd grader) to earn his daily bread. If man chooses to share his daily bread with his less fortunate brother, so be it. God doesn’t RIP THE BREAD off the guy’s table and redistribute it. Like it or not, comrade, this country was founded on Christian principles. (I can’t wait to hear how many indians good ol’ George Washington murdered, and how antichristian that was. You WERE going there, weren’t you comrade?) Limited government is fine. But the founding fathers and the men and women who made this country great were hard workers who used their God given talents to further humanity. This country wasn’t built on redistribution. It was built on enterprise and risk taking and sweat and sacrifice. You can’t sweat much and you don’t sacrifice ANYTHING when you sit back and wait for the government to take care of you.
    TAXATION & OVERSPENDING = SLAVERY
    I kinda like freedom, comrade.
P.S. The earth is actually getting COLDER.

  57. To Mike
Your statement about that I have not made any points you could retort to, well Mike that is an admission by you that either you don’t have the comprehension to read and understand my posts and or you lack the knowledge in how to scroll the screen up.
While it’s true that I accuse you of having a brainwashed point of view, I also said this “These statements “Brainless one” & “Idiot”. are reserved for individuals like yourself and not because you are a Republican or hold fiscal conservative views.” are proof positive once again that you simply cant read or comprehend.
And then Mike if you spout the Fox “quasi” news Karl Rove Hannity O’Reilly talking points here and accuse others of not providing ORIGINAL thoughts after you admit that you now only watch Fox occasionally “sorry pall no credibility there” and no other news, would make you hardly qualified for providing a none polarized BALANCED view point.
Did you also know that Fox is the only outfit that went to court over the right to lie?
Also did you know that O’Reilly falsely accused world war 2 American soldiers of committing a mass murder at Malmady? (He never retracted or apologized for that” The lie was debunked by the one you hate OLBERMAN and the history books… LMAO
Did you also know that Fox fabricated that Obama was a Muslim and that he attended a Madrassa? (CNN debunked that one next day)
Fair and balanced??? my ASS Mike.
I could go on and on but hey if you cant see the lies and distortions that are fabricated over at Fox then there is no hope in hell you will ever change your mind.. And this is why you are an unequivocal IDIOT and belong to that ever shrinking party of NEO CON “now only 20%” radicals… Good luck with that next election cycle..SIEG HEIL RUSH LIMBOUGH.

  58. To Mike Post2
Here are my answers to your points 2 through 6
2)Your “Point #1 was a lot longer than I originally intended.” is a correct assessment it (like usual) contained nothing of significance.
3)If you in your mind “or is that mindless” those grade 3 insults are at your grade 7 level then I wont argue that….
4.)You wrote “I don’t hide behind the Bible. The size differential makes it difficult.”
A hundred thousand comedians out of work and we have to end up with you … Damn….
5.)Interesting statement “Having a debate would require having an opponent.” Does this mean that you agree with those that hold an opposing view point or are you admitting that you are not a noteworthy opponent???
6.)Strange you would say this “I wouldn’t be interested in bickering-political-left-right-my cable-news-network-is better-than-YOUR-cable-news-network-crap.” and then say that “I tune in to FOX because it really is much more fair and balanced than the other outlets. ” This once again is an prime example why you are not worth debating..

  59. To Mike Post3
You know Mike your “the truth of the matter is simple” statement is a complete failure on your part to either see and or understand the historical record of the Bush doctrine/administration.
Here are some hard facts Mike.
When Bush got into office there was a budget surplus and a reduction in the National debt during the preceding Clinton years “Yea that’s right Slick Willy”.
While it is true that 9/11 occurred during the early days of the Bush Administration and as a result had costs associated with it, it is equally true that the War in Iraq was completely unnecessary (no WMD was ever found or credible evidence uncovered of an Iraq/Sadam AL QAEDA link)
You know Mike that unnecessary war in Iraq has cost the Nation (before Bush left office) 2 trillion Dollars and a not to speak of the 4284 serviceman and woman and 100,278 Iraqis civilians that have died during the ensuing melee. The truth of the matter is simple hey Jethro.
And then at the end of the Bush Infamy we find out that he has run the whole financial sector into the ground.. Yea okay then lets all talk about how bad Obama is..
Here is something you should understand Mike about the Reagan years.. The average weekly pay dropped 8 consecutive years during his reign.
    1980 $274
    1981 $271
    1982 $267
    1983 $272
    1984 $274
    1985 $271
    1986 $271
    1987 $269
    1988 $266
And also during next four years. Carter
    1989 $263
    1990 $259
    1991 $255
    1992 $254
The statement “The economic prosperity of the 80’s spilled into the 90’s. Reagan didn’t get credit for that. Bill Clinton did.”Is a utter and complete falsehood as you can see
The Reagan Tax cuts where only for the 1% of the Nations wealthy that really had no need for it.
So you see JETHRO you are nothing more then a Parrot for the Fox distortion network because everything you say here is what they say.
    FAIR and BALANCED MY ASS
    continued on post4

  60. To Mike Post4
Have you ever wondered how the Republican Party got pushed into obscurity in the last election cycle Mike? Well simple really besides the Bush Administrations destruction of the economy there was the usual fear and smear campaign by the no solutions offered Karl Rove attack machine . Just that this time people woke up to it and nobody really believed any of it anymore. Take a Look at Hannity for instance (and for that matter the whole Fox network)he spend day’s on end to fabricate a story where you could invoke his middle name Hussein and connect that to him being some kind of terrorist (Ayers Wright and whoever) and it all went as far that Hannity dedicated a whole hour on Andy Martin to discredit Obama who called all Jews slime and is openly racist.. Talking about credibility right
Here is a link where Robert Gibbs takes on Hannity about the the Andy Martin show of distortion
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zgn6rjGbp0c
It was those type of (no solutions offered) debates that has rendered the Republican Party into obscurity.
And here you are repeating the same old shit over again (and you don’t watch much Fox right).
Again Jethro I hope you would like to come up with issues that matter to the Nation one day and maybe then we can have a real debate…
    Continued on post5

  61. To Mike Post5
I am happy for you that you believe in God and that he created man (not woman ?is that not sexist?)You know Mike I hold a secular view that’s right that is what I am a secularist oh and the Comrad thing is wearing real thin here Jethro (breaking news for Mike the cold war is over). Personally Mike I don’t have a problem with religion as long as you do not try to shove it down my throat(free speech and all). So your quotations from the Bible are not effective keep that in mind besides it really is not good practice to inject a believe into a debate about reality.
Mike where do you get that the Nation was built on Judea Christian principals??? Specially that one of the most important historical facts is the absence of the word “God” in the U.S. Constitution and therefore there is no real ground for your argument.
Mike you have to let go of the history of the Nation, it is not really helping your argument much. Consider this Mike you live in a day and age where we can destroy the entire world a few times over so I would hardly think that the principals of the founding fathers are of any value to us today other then the constitution. I know it is hard to keep up with all that technological advancement but the truth is Mike that society’s throughout the millenniums have changed and in some cases radically.
Government has always been and always will be a re distributor of wealth … Examples of that are social security, roads, unemployment benefits, public works, water and a host of others. So I really cant see what your point is other then a whole lot of belly aching about some lazy individuals..
Hey Mike I am sure you do not make more then $250k a year so let me congratulate you on the Tax reduction you are going to receive from Obama.
And oh Mike your “The earth is actually getting COLDER.” statement is a pretty good indication that you have no idea of the machenics that drive the Anthropogenic climate change and the Thermohaline circulation that drive the Oceans currents.. But if you do then please make a case for your believes with the data to validate the assertion.
Well Jethro have a nice day and start reading from my 1st post there is 5 of them. 4 of them above this one .. I hope you can figure out how to scroll up LMAO..
    Good luck

  62. DaNews:
    Wow! 5 posts! I’m flattered.
You have a few problems, pal.
Anyone can go search the internet and find whatever data to support whatever idea they want. Here’s a prime example: Go to this website: globalwarminghoax.com and read the article about the increase in Antarctic sea ice. (I believe the article said the ice had increased some 30% or so since 1997). I found that in about 15 seconds. No doubt you can find a dissenting view in about 20 seconds.
    My thoughts are original, pal.
The biggest influence on me is life experience. True, I can’t rattle off the average salaries of Americans in the 1980’s….the point being, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO DO THAT????
Just because I’m not addicted to cable news (I REALLY DON’T watch FOX very often….in fact tonight, it’s season 4 of Star Trek the next generation on dvd) doesn’t mean I’m not informed. If I were so inclined, I could research the economic surplus of the 1980’s & 1990’s which were motivated by the same ideas from two different presidents: limited government. Clinton actually said that under his watch the “era of big government is OVER”. If you want, I could google this or look up that. But the truth is, I don’t have to.
I am simply correct. You are not.
Let’s leave some room for other folks to post now, comrade. The cold war IS over (thanks to Ol’ Dutch).
God Bless you! And God Bless America!!
    Shut up, Olbermann.

  63. I love this debate!
What really cracks me up is the the liberals have every single station in the TANK for Obama. They have invested so much to get him elected that they have to back him for better or worse.
Now that the dems. have control of the white house, Senate, Congress, businesses, banks, the census, supreme court, etc.
Wouldn’t you think that would be something that would make Olbermann and Maddow happy?
Yet all they can talk about is Bush and the last administration. The candidate they backed the whole way made it.
Why aren’t they singing his praises?
1 station isn’t in the tank for Obama and it has liberals going crazy. Probably because more people watch Fox than CNN and MSNBC combined

  64. To Mike
You know mike I do agree with you on the point that anyone can look up supporting data on the WEB supporting any arguement. However I get my data from respectable organizations that have the credibility to back that data up. Your example of a website that promotes Anthropogenic climate change as a Hoax rates a ZERO on the credibility scale.
If you really want to find true and vetted data concerning anthropogenic climate change you need to go to respectable scientific organizations IE: NAS (National Academy of Sciences) CASS (Advancing Science Serving Society).
You see Mike if you wish to inject yourself into a debate about scientific issues and want to look at least credible you have to research the topics you wish to cover.. This is why I told you before and will tell you again now (You can’t win an arguement if you go on sticking your head in the sand PALL) this only makes you only look stupid.
So you are the one with the problems Mike not the others that you haphazardly debate armed with no credible data. You have heard the expression (Don’t bring a knife to a gun fight) before, have you Mike?
Your assertion that your thoughts are original is no more credible then the WEB site you referred to.
And why,,, you ask… Well Mike you have (like I said before) been spouting all the FOX (NEO CON) talking points in each and every post you have ever posted here.
You have a MOUNTAIN of problems pal.
Why would you even say this Mike????
Really dude it is an admission to ignorance.
“True, I can’t rattle off the average salaries of Americans in the 1980’s….the point being, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO DO THAT????”
Again Mike if you wish to inject yourself into a debate (and not look stupid) you need to do the research Pall (sorry about your luck)
So here is my advise for ya Jethro..
Pore yourself a big MUG of KOOLAID and go back to watching your Star Trek episodes.
This way Mike you don’t have to bother your brain with such triviality’s as looking for credible data.
In addendum Mike I would also like to say this
You have failed on every account to prove you are correct but you have succeeded beyond all expectation to prove that you are UNINFORMED, lack the CRANIAL CAPACITY and have little or no EDUCATION…..
In short: You are a waste of time and resources.
    THE END

  65. Adam:
You are 100% correct. You would think the liberals would be singing praises to their savior Barack Hussein Obama. Instead, they seem even more unhappy than ususal!
    DaNews:
    You wrote this:
(You can’t win an arguement if you go on sticking your head in the sand PALL) this only makes you only look stupid.
Do you know what makes YOU look stupid?
You don’t know how to spell.
    a-r-g-u-m-e-n-t.
pal is spelled pal, not PALL.
and “this only makes you only look stupid….
If only Comrade news only had a brain…
(I’m sure this will urge DaNews to write 6 posts this time). Ever see Fatal Attraction?

    Hey Comrade!
I will POUR myself a PEPSI and watch Star Trek.
    trivialities, not triviality’s.
    You are hilarious, comrade!
Don’t drink too much Kool Aid, it will clog your pours! (I-I mean PORES)

  67. To Mike AKA Jethro
I see we are now regressing to the last line of defense, spelling correction
Arguement is the alternate spelling of the word ‘argument’ in British English, as with ‘judgment’ and ‘judgement’.
For the sake of the arguement, let us say that you are a potato. “STUPID”
PALL is the inflected version of the word. “JETHRO” much like when you say DICKWADDDDDDD LMFAO. “STUPID”
And then triviality” ‘s” was a typo ” ‘s” never got deleted from a previously typed word.
In any case MIKE is this the only thing you have left???? Spelling attacks???
Does this mean that anyone with a different native tongue does not need to post in fear of your reciprocating (no substance) spelling attacks?
Is this your NEO CON futile attempt at marginalizing ?
All you have done with that JETHRO is that you proved the points I have made in that you are not worthwhile to have a debate with.
In any case Jethro you are not free of spelling errors in your own previous posts
Par example “God bless em, I guess. I just feel a twinge or two (or ten) of hate coming from the left. Sometimes the right is outta line too. (I don’t blindly follow anybody, pal. “
It is “God bless them” and not “God bless em”
And it is “Sometimes the right is out of line to” and NOT “Sometimes the right is OUTTA line too”
There is a bunch more, but I am not going to engage you in a war of spelling/grammar PALLLLLLL…
    Git er dune Jethro.

  68. DaNews:
God Bless em is slang, bro. Not a misspelling.
Outta is also slang for out of.
Hide all you want. You are mentally retarded.
I don’t think that spelling correction is a last line of defense. It is something you will whine about because you have no choice. I exposed you as a complete moron. You have no credibility, and to try to cover yourself, you will attempt to make an argument that because I pointed out the fact that you’re illiterate, I must be hiding behind that fact. Typical liberal response. You folks whine and cry like toddlers when you don’t get your way.
If your native tongue is retardation, I guess I can’t relate.
You could google and watch MSNBC all you want. You are still dumber than rocks.
    Rocks: R-O-C-K-S
    Shut up, Olbermann.

  69. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzz zzz zz
Oh did you say something Jethro??
    bing…bing…binG…biNG…bING…BING..BING…BING…BINg…BIng…Bing…bing…
bingb bing did ya hear that? That was the reality train going right by your dumb ass!
    Git er dune Jethro

  70. Here is my view on spelling …
While it is true that in some instances correct spelling is an absolute must, i.e. (legal documents) it is also true that languages are dynamic in nature and it is for that reason most educational institutions (like University’s) have come to realize that there is a need to recognize the substance of the document first.
A compelling argument/arguement (just for Jethro) can be made to allow for misspelled words in the scientific world to speed up the flow of ideas between researches around the globe.
Recently I read a biography of Einstein’s life. This biography contained written letters to Robert Oppenheimer (technical data in how to separate uranium 235 from uranium 238) and to Roosevelt stating the dangers that the Germans might be working on a weapon of unimaginable power (atomic bomb).
What struck me, when I read these letters was that there was a huge amount of misspelled words.
Now imagine if Roosevelt had chosen to ignore these warnings on the grounds of spelling mistakes where would our Nation be today? Or if the physicists at that time chose to ignore his relativity theory EM_C² and thus retarding scientific progress. Most of the technological advancements in today’s world are based on his work i.e. fibre optics (internet). We certainly would not be talking about the new generation of computers (Quantum logic) today.
Or if Ronald Reagan ignored a telegraphed message by Gorbachev (we launched nuclear rokits) “misspelled for the award winning and spelling Bee Mike aka Jethro” on the premise of a misspelled word.
This is why there is no compelling argument that can be made for these types of shenanigans i.e. spelling attacks and completely ignore the substance.
    Sieg Heil Rush Limbough.

  71. DaNews:
You know, I could sink to your base level and hurl insults at you (and they would probably be justified, because you are a hateful, ignorant individual). It really isn’t worth it, though. It is obvious that you live for this kind of interaction. I was simply having a bit of fun, and at the same time, sharing my views on certain topics. I’m really not interested in bickering with the likes of you. I could literally feel how miserable of a person you are, and it is sad. You seem to pick fights with almost everyone who submits a post. Let me guess….it is you that is right, and the rest of us are wrong (that is, the people who don’t agree with you). There is an old saying (at least I think it’s old): Hurt people hurt people. Who hurt you, DaNews? Because you seem to like to try to hurt others. I certainly don’t feel hurt, but it is literally sickening to argue with such a petty, narrow minded individual.
    As far as spelling goes…..
I would be willing to give a genius like Einstein a pass. The fact that you compare yourself with him is a testament to your psychotic state of mind. You really think you are an important person, don’t you? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to insult you, really. You are no doubt important to your mom. I’m talking about your apparent belief that you are some kind of voice for the left, or whatever else you try to espouse.
The fact that you would compare Roosevelt, Einstein, and that historical situation to a lame set of internet posts is….a little goofy.
There are doctors out there who can help with this type of malady. I’m sure if you google psychologists, you may find one in your area. Seriously, Danews. Get the help you need. It’s not too late. If you can’t afford it, I’ll pay.
In the meantime, I will pray for you. And if I have hurt you in any way, I apologize.
Just don’t hurt yourself, or anyone else. It really will be alright.

  72. To Jethro
Let me come right to the point and tell you that you are a GOOFBALL Jethro.
Your opening statement goes as follows
“You know, I could sink to your base level and hurl insults”
Then following that you continue with insults such as these.
“hateful, ignorant, miserable, petty, narrow minded, psychotic, goofy,”
In the REAL world they call that HYPOCRISY Jethro.
    More over.
Your thinly veiled arguments are really nothing more then drive by character assassination attempts all of which run concurrent with the Neo Con thought process i.e. Ann Coulter.
What your problem is that all of these insults are applicable to your own character which you have put on display here willingly may I add.
Then after writing all these thinly veiled insults you go on writing this…
“In the meantime, I will pray for you. And if I have hurt you in any way, I apologize.” you have got to be kidding me right??.. Apology NOT ACCEPTED
Well Jethro here you go again invoking the Bible and making your self to be a man of God. You don’t even qualify as real Man let alone a Man of God.
Your false and misleading statements concerning the Judea Christian believes are laughable at best Jethro. Each and every statement you have made here concerning the Bible have never been backed up by any reference points.
And when Jethro you accuse me of comparing myself to Einstein and or Roosevelt you should at least try to support that with a direct quote.. I can tell you this Jethro there is not one single sentence that you could quote from my last post to support that. And thus making that like so many of your other claims FALSE MISLEADING and a LIE and proves the point that I have made in an earlier post “YOU HAVE NO COMPREHENSION SKILLS”
I am still waiting for you to bring a legible argument to bare concerning Anthropogenic climate change.
But I know that will never be forthcoming.
So the moral of the story is this. If you inject yourself into a public place for debate to spout your Neo Con crap plus your insults and never retort when you are challenged and then proceed to cry and whine about when others call you a MORON,,,,, then don’t make public your deranged opinions.
But do not expect me or others for that matter not to retort. Specially when most of your crap you post here is full of holes and lack any and all signs of credible supporting data.

  73. Comrade:
    http://www.nolanchart.com/article805.html
Sorry about the link (or lack thereof)….but at least you have the address.
Have a ball with that one.
I’ll look forward to your next 20 paragraph reply.
If I am such a moron, why are you so angry? Each post is more angry in tone than the last.
    I believe I have struck a nerve.
Anyway, I think you will find that article interesting. (Either you will find it interesting, or you will bust a few blood vessels screaming and railing against me and probably the author of the article as well).
You can say whatever you want about me. But you are way off on the JUDEO-Christian material
“Your false and misleading statements concerning the Judea Christian believes are laughable at best Jethro.”
Judea is a geographical region. The BELIEFS (not BELIEVES) are JUDEO-CHRISTIAN. Just a little friendly editorial service I am only too happy to provide.
And you did compare yourself (albeit indirectly) to Einstein. (You asserted that some of his writings were replete with spelling errors and that his ideas were nonetheless valid, and you used that assertion to try and validate your lack of grammatical ability). The difference between you and Einstein is: Einstein was a genius and a great man. You are living in some kind of odd dreamworld where you are the star of your own show. I can only conclude that you are a narcissist. Maybe this will help.
    http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php/type/doc/id/419
Is it really hypocritical to point out that you are miserable, petty, & ignorant? The fact is that you are! It’s only character assassination when it isn’t true. You see, just because I made those observations doesn’t make me a hypocrite or a hateful man. I would say that you seem to be the hypocrite. You are the one who seems to be whining and name calling. You are a profane individual, comrade. I haven’t sunk to your vulgar level. I simply make intelligent observations and use a little humor to spice things up.
I’m sorry to hear that you won’t accept my apology.
Bitterness and pain are hazardous to your health. Let go of the hate!
Can’t we all just get along?
    God Bless America!

  74. Whoops!
The links seem to be active after all! Sorry about the confusion.

  75. To Mike.
I am going to try this one more time Mike and I promise I wont call you any names..
Let me clarify something here about myself and who I am.
I was born raised and educated in Germany. Einsteins country if you will. Where I achieved my Masters in science. Then I spend time in France working and studying at the Univesity Of Paris UPMC “Universite Pierre@Marie” Where I achieved two distinctions (1) Theoretical Physics (PHD) (2) Mathematics (Masters). Then I left France for the USA and I am now a citizen (albeit naturalized). I then worked in Batavia Ill. on plans and development of a Large Hadron Collider to be built (now completed and up and running) in Switzerland/France. After that I worked at MIT Massachusetts Institute of Technology.as an associate Prof. Lectured and engaged in research (the search for gravity). I have lectured in University’s across the continent including Canada.
Presently I am working with and for the NAS (National Acadamy for Science) on ecological issues and risk management for Anthropogenic climate change And lecture at the University of Boston (theoretical Physics)
Maybe now you understand why my spelling is not always the greatest. (Believe me my students bug me all the time).
You see Mike there is no sense in my opinion to criticize spelling and completely ingnore the substance and that was the point of my Post on Einsteins Biography.
I viewed your link on Anthropogenic climate change Mike. Unfortunately I have to tell you that the material presented there is not of a credible nature. Primarily because it is laced with political rhetoric. Plus some of the points made there concerning the CO2 content make no scientific sense.
The Argument on Climate change Mike is not one of will it happen but rather one of, is it possible that it could happen. It is like when you buy insurance for your car you dont buy it becuase you think that you are going to get into an excident but you buy it becuase there is a posibility that you may get into an accident.
The scientific community has uncovered evidence for this through the excavation and drilling into the historical geological sedimentation/ice cores

  76. I will continue later Mike I have to go and do some things For Mother today 🙂

  77. Ignore the 2nd post above Mike I revised it a little.

It is like when you buy insurance for your car you don’t buy it because you think that you are going to get into an accident but you buy it because there is a possibility that you may get into an accident.
And this is the principal of risk management.
The majority of people involved in researching Anthropogenic Climate Change are in agreement that there is a certain element of risk. Most of the arguments today centers around how high that risk is. There is credible evidence today that the climate has changed abruptly in the past. What is not clear is what caused these changes.
There are several theory’s that could be plausible for those shifts. i.e. Volcanic activity , abrupt changes in the thermohaline current and possibly meteoric impacts.
However today there is an alarming increase in CO2 concentration as measured from the start of the industrial revolution. And as you know CO2 is a greenhouse gas. What is not quite clear is what kind of impact this will have on the climate. There are several theory’s on that.
    (1) A substantial melting of the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets and will cause a devastating rise in sea level flooding all low lying areas. New York, LA, Florida, New Orleans, The Netherlands, parts of England, France, India and many more.
    (2) The introduction of these huge amounts of fresh water now land locked in the Antarctic and Greenland could disrupt the Termohaline Ocean current and start a new ice age.
    (3) And then maybe none of these things will ever come to pass (I am hoping for this)
So then what should we do?
Well we could do nothing and hope for the best.
Or we could take action and maybe avoid some of this.
However if we chose to do nothing and the worst of the Projections come to pass then we are going to experience a catastrophe on a global scale that would make world war 2 look like a walk in the park.
So now the question is this what is the likelihood of sudden climate change?
Well that depends on who you talk to and can range from 0% to 100%.
Most of the 0% percent is from a few scientists and mostly politicized news stations.
The same can be said for those that belong in the 100% group
So it is possible that it is somewhere in the middle say 50%
But for the sake of argument lets say that number is 20% or even 10 %
So now lets use my earlier argument
Would you refuse to buy car insurance if you knew there was a 10% chance that you could get into an accident. Or would you not make sure your child was seated securely if you knew that there was a 10% chance you could get in to an accident. I know you could say that you would not drive if the odds where that bad. But that would amount to the same thing as taking significant action towards stopping global climate change.
Are you willing to risk your kids or grand kids future with odds like that??
Most of the Data for judging in how high that risk is should be scrutinized for political ideology’s. Reason for that is when you take a look at all the news stations for instance.
    MSNBC has a Democratic Agenda
    FOX has a Republican Agenda
    NBC has a Democratic Agenda.
All these news stations can not be trusted to give you a true account on the scientific issues. Yes and that would include Olberman, O’reilly, Hannity, Beck, Rachel Madow, the Ed show and the list goes on. Because they all politicize the issue of Climate change.
Personally I was not happy when All Gore injected himself into this debate. Because he politicised the whole debate to a much greater extend. And he has in my opinion questionable motives for doing so.
This is why (somewhat unfortunate) the only places you can go and get that is from ASSS or NAS. All the data there has been Peer reviewed world wide meaning criticised to death changed peer reviewed again and then hopefully published.
For myself Mike as a scientist I can see there is a problem that most likely needs to addressed. From a perspective of Risk Management I in fact say that we don’t have a choice. But I also say this, you don’t have to believe me do your own research and create your own risk assessment
    Have a Nice Mothers day

  79. Chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp….
    The sound of crickets..
    No answer to that Mike?

  80. Not really, comrade. (I mean, Bruder)
    Guten Morgen!
    Wie Gehts?
Mein Gott, Bruder, you have an impressive resume!
Isn’t it nice to be able to work in the good ol’ USA, the land of opportunity?
For someone who hates the American way of life so badly, you sure enjoy living here, don’t you? No denegration intended. I really am curious: If capitalism and freedom are such evil concepts, why did you decide to live here? Like it or not, whatever this country is becoming, it WAS founded on capitalist ideals. We are not a nation of socialists, although our President is doing everything in his power to change that.
Anyway, I do have a college degree, but it is a Bachelor of Science in Applied Sciences. I haven’t collided with any Hadrons lately, but I used to be a caseworker for Child & Family Services. (After 2 years of watching the government screw up people’s lives, I obtained employment in the private sector. Better money!
The reason I mentioned my casework experience is simple: I have hands-on experience working with the impoverished and the abused. I can tell you what governments’ solution to their suffering was: Keep them strung out on government programs. Give them barely enough to survive, but give them no incentive to go get their own piece of the pie, because government pie is free! I used to give families “free” furniture, food vouchers, clothing, etc). I felt pity for the children; they were innocent. It was the lazy parents that made me sick. I, for one, would never feel comfortable letting a man bring in free food and furniture to feed my family and keep them comfortable. So many of the fathers in these families just didn’t seem to feel any sense of shame or even gratitude. Bums.
Anyway, I helped a lot of kids out of a lot of bad situations. And I always told them the same thing. Study hard in school, trust in God, work hard, and your life WILL BE BETTER than the life your parents were modeling.
What does this have to do with global warming?
    Not a thing.
    Except….
the same government that wants to control every aspect of our lives loves cramming the fear of global disaster down our throats. I don’t have a PhD, I never worked or studied at MIT, and I sometimes watch pro wrestling, so I guess I am not qualified in your eyes to debate this issue. Fair enough. However, I think you will find any source of data that is in opposition to your view as a source that is NOT CREDIBLE. That is not credible in and of itself, in my mind. What about the satellite photos of the increased arctic ice from the nolan chart link I provided? I don’t know if that guy is right, but the data seemed pretty compelling to me. But I am just an uninformed Schweinhund, I guess.
    Well, Herr newsy,
I am glad you have achieved a measure of success in your life. Good luck with the Hadrons!
    Auf Wiedersehen!

  81. First of Mike I have never said or implied that I hate the American way of life.. But I have said that there are things that could be changed for the better and that is constructive criticism. Much like you are criticizing the government for there action and or inaction towards the poor which is your prerogative and does not make you Anti American or even hate America. I do not entirely disagree with you on the subject of urban despair and how it is self perpetuating but I do disagree with you on how to solve those problems.
    Now with that said
If you read my last post on Anthropogenic climate change again you will see that I made clear that politics has muddied the water to a great extend.
And I also made clear that politics has no place in the scientific arena.
Anthropogenic climate change has been made into a political football primarily by a few scientists that are politically motivated this is why anything that you research on the subject has to be scrutinized for political bias and if the data presented has been peer reviewed. There is enough evidence that the climate is changing because the polar caps are melting at an alarming rate in the last 30 years.
    http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/index.html
But there is also the solar cycle which takes 11 years to complete. Today we are in a solar minimum and some of the data that Nasa has presented with SOHO is that we are experiencing a deep solar minimum and solar radiations in all wavelengths have dropped.
Solar wind pressure has dropped 20% ..
Now these are significant numbers but are only going to have a small impact on global warming and or cooling . It however could have had an impact on some the temperatures of the last winter. But the Solar maximum will return.
    http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/01apr_deepsolarminimum.htm
My post was about risk management and takes into account political bias on both sides.
So now my question is this
Do you agree or disagree with the way I look at this problem by a way of Risk Management and tell me why you think what think.

  82. Bruder,
I am at a loss for words. (well, not REALLY)
1.) Most if not all of your prior posts are devoted to attacking conservative views, conservative media, and conservatives in general.
2.) Your most common response to folks who had differing views than you on climate change (or global warming or WHATEVER you want to call it) was to scream and rail on and on about how stupid they must be.
3.) I am trying to reconcile your supposed credentials and apparent subsequent standing in the scientific community with your ridiculous posts and childish attacks on all things conservative. I question whether a true scientist in search of truth would lean so heavily to one side. (Don’t get me wrong. I respect a strong stance. You, however, immediately go on the attack, and I have a difficult time believing that an individual with the credentials you profess to possess would behave that way).
But let’s assume you are who you say you are! That brings me to my next point….
4.) You have said that certain media outlets have political agendas, and that the nolan chart guy has a political agenda, and that people opposed to Anthropogenic climate change have an agenda, etc, etc, etc. Are you implying that you DON’T have an agenda? Are you just a noble scientist out to try and save the world from global warm—I-I mean CLIMATE CHANGE?
    If yes….
then why attack people for watching Fox news? (check out some of the crap you said to folks who weren’t even addressing you, like Mary James (or Jane)! Your rants went way beyond those of a guy (or gal) just having a bit of fun on a website, or just blowing off a little steam. You really treated this site like it was….a lot more important than it should have been to an employee of MIT or the NAS involved in searching for the Higgs Boson (when did you and your colleauges finish your work on the Collider)?
    If no….
    http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php/type/doc/id/419
But, to answer your question about risk management, I guess my answer would depend on whether I thought there was a threat. Then I would have to weigh the potential benefits of any action taken to protect me from global warm—Uh, CLIMATE CHANGE against the potential harm done by the protection itself on other areas of my life. In other words, would it be riskier to potentially succumb to the harmful effects of climate change or to the smothering controls of BIG GOVERNMENT AND STIFLING REGULATIONS? (I’m assuming that the knight-in-shining-armor-against-climate change is probably Barack Husein Obama galloping on a white steed flanked by Sir Al Gore and the ghost of Walter Mondale)
    Seriously…..
My feeling on risk management is
    1.) Assess the risk
    2.) Seek solutions/alternatives
3.) Implement the most effective solution
    4.) Pray
I honestly don’t feel climate change is the issue that so many are making it out to be. I really feel that a good deal of the argument is fueled by money and political influence & ambition.
Let’s assume there is even a 10% chance (to use your numbers) that global warming/climate change/Al Gore’s heavily hairsprayed head represents a threat to civilized man. (Hey Al, if the climate is in such a wreck, stop driving your car, install 1,000 candles in your house and never turn on another light switch, and keep that air conditioner off no matter HOW hot it gets (According to you, Al, it’s gonna be BOILING soon)
I feel that there are plenty of other threats with much higher percentages behind them that warrant our attention and action.
The way I see it, scientists that subscribe and push your view of the environment on the rest of humanity get paid truckloads of money for research. Who is paying this money? What do they want the scientists to say? Believe me, there is a pricetag for getting all those research funds. (Look at the tobacco industry. Tobacco companies actually employed scientists to prove that smoking was not as hazardous to ones’ health as is widely believed. Also, they set out to prove that smoking was not addicitve, and did not cause all the side effects that people thought it did.
Look at murder trials. There is always a witness for the defense, a medical expert who swears the knife couldn’t possibly have killed poor Johnny…..he actually had a heart attack 4.7 seconds PRIOR to being carved up like a Christmas ham, so he therefore wasn’t murdered! (Ok, extreme example…..maybe). Point is, money goes a long way to purporting “facts”. And, of couse, so does politics.
I would be a little more concerned about the Sun’s effect on our world than I would about coal emissions anyway. I happen to think the earth is going thru climate change, but in my humble and uninformed opinion, it is natural change. I could be wrong, of course. Do I have “credible data” to support my belief? Nah. I’m sure it’s out there. I’m also sure that there is just as much of the opposite view.
So which view is more credible? Who is right? Who is to say?
Why is it that lefties are so concerned about the environment and rare owls and fish, or “torturing” people who commit heinous acts of murder…..but have no problem whatsoever with protecting the right to kill unborn children?
That kind of thinking doesn’t make any sense to me. The stuff you call NEOCON crap makes a heck of a lot more sense. So, I guess I choose the crap.

  83. There is only one thing left to say after that rant of stupidity.
I AM DONE WITH YOU JETHRO……..
You really should check if the sky is blue in your world.

  84. And oh ya
    Sieg Heil Rush Limpbrain
    your unelected leader.

  85. What ya all up to??
I wase readin some stuff here looks like a whole lota dick measurin goin on if ya ask me.
was with al da pissin matches here huh?
You two fuckers ota fuck right off yeas all givin me a bad case of mental diearea with usin al them big words and all. Who really gives a fuck about them opinions of yours them are nothin more then a good fart in a huricane .. know what i mean. I just hapen to think ya all need a good ass kickin cause you aint nothin more then just plain ol bunch of morons. thank all fer yer atention

  86. Mr. McCain:
You’re right about the “pissin match”. It is getting old.
Sorry about the mental runs….take some Pepto, you’ll feel all better n such.

  87. DaNews:
Marine plants remind me of your friggin brain: small and difficult to see.
    KILL THE RAINFORESTS!
    GOD BLESS WAL MART!
The earth is getting cooler, you ignoramus. We are in the midst of an interglacial period.
P.S. It was 34 degrees this morning in Pittsburgh.
The temperature is at least 4 degrees and as much as 22 degrees below normal in at least 22 states (as in UNITED STATES, you Kraut Faggot!)
    GO F YOURSELF, NAZI

  88. Yawn …. You say something JimBob??
Oh there are some good educational institutions nearby where you live. You should try some Kindergarten would be a good start for you.

  89. And just one last thing
In the scientific world we measure temperature in Kelvin. So maybe you could clarify what it is your talking about when you say 22 degrees and 4 degrees below normal… Also you may want expand your ludicrous views to global mean temperatures.. Localized phenomena are just that LOCAL.
After all (Herr Imbecile) there is a whole lot more to the world then just the plain ol USA.
And then there is this, boy GENIUS. If the Thermo Haline Ocean Currents change whereby it excludes the Northern Hemisphere as a result of the introduction of to much fresh water from the melting of the glacial ice pack of Greenland,it most likely will trigger an ice age.
So you see BABA you better go run to WALLMART and stock up on your thermal underwear.
This is why it is called Anthropogenic Climate Change with the emphasis on Climate Change.
Get an education. A brain is an awful thing to waste…

  90. Here is the link to the story about GW Bush and the Torture Issue and the subsequent conviction of Texas Sheriff James Parker .
    http://www.correntewire.com/mcclatchy_texas_cou
It is a legitimate Question to ask why when GW was president his conscious took flight concerning torture.. When he as Governor of Texas did not grant a pardon to Sheriff James Parker for the same issue. And to give an account as to how he found a twisted interpretation into the law to make it appear that torture was legal.
It is Equally as legitimate to ask why the media is not hammering on this point.
    Fair and balanced you decide…

  91. Interestingly late last week the Obama administration picks Governor Jon Huntsman of Utah a moderate Republican to fill the position of Ambassador to China.
This was a good choice as this individual speaks fluent Mandarin.
Besides it shuts down the debate about the Obama administration not delivering on it’s Bipartisan promise on the campaign stump.
And more over it neuters the Republican Party of a possible candidate that was considering to run for the office of president.
And thus the Republican dwindles further into Obscurity.
This is the second time in just 2 short months that a high profile Republican switches sides ie. Arlen Specter. In view of this, there is only one word that can be said.
    NEXT…

  92. DaNews:
    Go die in a fire

  93. That is it?? Your most intelligent response JimBObSlim?
WOW That is truly impressive BABA.
So tell me something …. Did you run out of Cans to shoot at or Amo?? If it is just cans I can send you whole pile FREE…

  94. DANEWS:
I RED SOME OF YOUR POSTS AND HAVE SOME ADVICE FOR YOU: GO BACK TO GERMANY, YOU LITTLE SOCIALIST BITCH!! YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE LITTLE PENCIL NECKED FRUITCAKES WHO HIDE BEHIND BLOGGING. I WOULD LOVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SLAP YOU SILLY. TELL ME THE TRUTH. DO YOU REALLY TEACH AT BOSTON U? I WOULD LOVE TO SIT IN ON ONE OF YOUR LECTURES. MAYBE I COULD BUY YOU A CUP OF COFFEE AFTERWARDS, YOU LITTLE FAGGIT.

  95. Sookie:
Nicely done. I am also sick of this Eurotrash mouthing off about what a brain he has. DANEWS, you really must be a pathetic loser. You spend so much time on these posts of yours, I have to agree with Mike. I don’t buy you working for any type of government agency or lecturing at any kind of university. I think you are a fraud. You seem to me to be a delusional idiot who has a hard on for global warming. Your so predictible, too….you’ll write one of your stupid replies filled with what you consider to be wit and intelligence……but believe me, freak, the only thing your posts are filled with is shit. Know what I mean, sissy boy?
Have a good night, Nazi lover

  96. Here is one for ya
    I think YOU ARE MIKE…

  97. Maybe you would like to engage in a real debate … You know one where you don’t drape yourself in the flag and spout your kkk agenda .. Something along the line where you actually engage your brain before your hands twitch all over the keyboard..
You guy’s remind me of the Nazi SS .. You know where anybody with a differing opinion must be shut up at all costs… It is amazing to me that you can call yourself American when you consider that the whole precipice of the American way is FREE SPEECH.
But oh how quickly you recoil into limiting others and there FREE SPEECH when it it does not concur with your own… You are not American you are nothing more then TRASH..

  98. Hey Bruder,
Don’t drag me into this. I responded to you Friday, and I gave you my honest opinion. I think it is you who are incapable of dealing with other people’s opinion(s). Your first response to my post was to call me Jethro (whatever that means) and accuse me of engaging in a rant of stupidity. Well, that’s your opinion. And in true liberal fashion, yours is the only opinion that carries any weight. I heard a guy on Hannity’s radio show yesterday (his name escapes me). He said he worked for the NAS, and he wrote a book calling global warming a hoax. I don’t even have to ask why you won’t even consider his opinion.
Look in the mirror…..there is a perfect example of intolerance and inflexible thinking staring back at you.
    Also, try this link again
    http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php/type/doc/id/419
I think you’re paranoid on top of everything else. Now you’re starting to see me around every corner! (Is that what you meant by your comment to Stars & Stripes)? Get some help, man. I don’t hide behind an alias. Never have, and never will.

  99. WOW!!
    Common sense in triplicate.
    Just for you, DaNews

  100. First, DaNews posts this response to some poor sap who dared to disagree:
In addendum I would like to point out that it is spelled foreign and not “foriegn”
    Have a nice day
    Posted by DaNews | April 18, 2009 12:39 PM
    That was April 18, 2009.
Check out liberal reality version May 8,2009
DaNews: Here is my view on spelling …

    H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E
    Have a nice day, Newsy

  101. No Mike you replied (in your last post with this link embedded.
    http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php/type/doc/id/419
Talking about HYPOCRITE I would call you just that but you are OVER QUALIFIED.
Fact is Mike you have made statements about a whole range of topics armed with nothing more than second hand opinions. Then when challenged you make statements like these
” True, I can’t rattle off the average salaries of Americans in the 1980’s….the point being, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO DO THAT????”
Yea why would you take the time to do that???
Really Mike … As a teacher Mike I would tell you this
    I grade you F
Lacks any and all substantive proof and supporting data.
And here is an excerpt from the first response to one of my post… You posted this
“(DaNews frantically scwambles for his wemote contwol so he could watch MSNBC or wead the New York Times so he (or she)? could get some ammo to fight back! Oh Gawd!! Bush wuined this country!! I can’t get over it!! Oh, how could we tor-too the poor terrowists? Those poor, poor terrowists! Those people have mommy’s and daddy’s too!! How could the mean old bullies at the CIA tor-too those poor poor people?)”
    You should understand this Mike
“Look not for the splinter in your brothers eye when you have a beam in your own.” Jesus Christ
Again the word HYPOCRITE comes to mind but like I said before YOU ARE OVER QUALIFIED.
And oh, I am just having some fun with ya
Last “Jethro” is a reference to the Beverly Hill Billies tv show … LMAO
And ill be so kind to provide you with the link to some good care.
    http://www.bipolar.com/
    Have a nice Day

  102. FYI Mike there is a difference between opinion and facts..Look it up…
Anyhow your post are boring so good luck with the rest of your life …
PS I still think that you are one and the same Mike
    JimBobSlim
    Sookie
    Stars and stripes …
Ya okay give me a break….

  103. Newsy:
The fact that I made a joke about you “fwantically scwambling for you wemote” was a joke, and has NOTHING to do with Christianity. I think it was obvious that I was exagerrating for the sake of humor. What bothers you so much is that it was a direct hit. Just because I point out that you seem to be addicted to cable news and arguments doesn’t make me hateful. It makes me insightful! And the fact that you throw a “I’m just having some fun with ya” in there doesn’t change the fact that you truly are a hateful person. Just go back and read all of your insane posts. You really get off on arguing, creating division, and trying to hurt other people.I seriously feel sorry for you.
Anyway, an F from you is an A from the school of common sense, so thank you!
Once again, there are mountains of data that refute your beliefs. You just won’t accept any of it, because you are incapable of admitting that you may be wrong. Now be honest. You get at least 75% of your opinions from the demented leftist media, right? Don’t bother answering. It is so obviously true.
You never really addresed my point (from the last post about spelling). All you did was ATTACK. What do you say about the FACT that you rip someone for a misspelling, but defend it when you are the guilty party? Don’t point your finger at me (because all that means is that there are three more fingers pointing back at YOU). Address the point in a reasonable manner.
The spelling example, while childish and unimportant in the grand scheme of things, is a microcosm of how you think. You believe that you alone are right and innocent in a guilty world. That constitutes psychosis. Mein Gott!!
Anyway, no matter how much you hurt me, bruder, I will always love you (brotherly love, newsy, not eros)
    Have a nice day!
You never answered my questions posed a few days ago: When did you complete the Hadron Collider? (If you need a hand with that answer, you can go to Wikipedia…..I think there are some dates you could lift off of that site)
    How do you spell DaNEWS?
    F-R-A-U-D

  104. DaNews:
Posting a link to a mental health website is a nice touch. And SO ORIGINAL, too. Just like the rest of your ideas!
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Thanks, Newsy! I’m glad I was able to influence you. Keep up the good work!

  105. Comprehension AGAIN is not your strong suit is it now Mike.
In my spelling post is said this
“This is why there is no compelling argument that can be made for these types of shenanigans i.e. spelling attacks and completely ignore the substance. ”
You see Mike you completely IGNORED THE SUBSTANCE and then went into a spelling attack
Just FIND THIS POST where you say this (spelling attack with no substance. There are 2 of them.
    You wrote this:
“Do you know what makes YOU look stupid?
You don’t know how to spell.
    a-r-g-u-m-e-n-t.
pal is spelled pal, not PALL.”
and “this only makes you only look stupid….
If only Comrade news only had a brain…”
This is why Mike you are not worthwhile to have a debate with. Your twisted views are not only ridicules but are also laced with stupidity.
I am still waiting for that mountain of Data that supposedly refutes what I am saying about Anthropogenic Climate Change …
So far have not seen any.
Point of interest is that EXON MOBIL has released a statement recently supporting the Anthropogenic Climate Change argument.
The answer to your question on the LHC
The team I was working with completed the data for the confinement beam strength calculations was May 1998 and published 16th of June 1998.
Here are some nice facts about the LHC.
The beam confinement magnets are cooled to -271.3°C (1.9 K. this done to achieve a super conducting state in the coils so they wont overheat and thus burn out.
The LHC can handle 600 million proton collisions per second.
And Mike At full power, trillions of protons will race around the LHC accelerator ring 11245 times a second, traveling at 99.99% the speed of light. Two beams of protons will each travel at a maximum energy of 7 TeV (tera-electronvolt),(hope you know what that means) corresponding to head-to-head collisions of 14 TeV. Altogether some 600 million collisions will take place every second
And Mike hopefully we will gain a better understanding of the elemental particles and thus unify Einsteins relativity theory and Quantum theory by implementing M theory (string theory) plus the 11 dimensions it holds.
This will no doubt in time produce a better understanding of what and how/why our universe is what it is today. And maybe shed light on the elusive subject of Dark matter and Black holes
    carry on

  106. DaNews has some very good points. I’m actually Republican, technically, but I hate the way the Republicans have been headed. Especially because of the propaganda that FOX News spreads.
CNN is rarely Liberal-biased. Sure, they’ve made fun of Sarah Palin a few times, but I mean, REALLY, it’s Sarah Palin.
Plus, CNN does not lie and distort things like FOX does. The reason people watch it more is because most conversatives are old people, and as you probably know, old people watch the news much more often than younger people do.
In addition, a lot of these people just want to watch a news network that makes them feel smart — by backing up their opinions and distorting the truth.
As for the tea parties, wow. Those people are lucky to live in the U.S. and should not be allowed to petition for such reasons. Maybe they have the right to: to a certain extent, but seriously… the U.S. has lower taxes than most countries in the world. I think it has the third lowest tax rate or something along that line.

  107. DaNews:
“This is why Mike you are not worthwhile to have a debate with. Your twisted views are not only ridicules but are also laced with stupidity”.
I think you meant that my views are “ridiculous”. However, I knew that I opened myself up to ridicule when I took on the subject of global warming. (Ha!!) I never claimed to be “worthwhile” to have a debate with! Please don’t misunderstand. I stick by my BELIEFS. That is exactly what they are, in my view. I can seperate BELIEF from FACT.
You claim to have absolute facts. At least that is how you present yourself, because when any data is produced that you don’t agree with, you simply dismiss it as “politically motivated”. Here is a letter that I heard a lot about, and was able to track down.
    http://www.middlebury.net/op-ed/un-signatories.html
I am not a scientist, climatologist, or any kind of specialist related to any kind of official study of “climate change”. I am an individual with an opinion. I base my opinion on sources that you unfortunately do not feel are credible.
This letter seems pretty compelling to me. I happen to subscribe to this opinion not solely based on MY KNOWLEDGE (or lack thereof) of science, but my knowledge of HUMAN NATURE. You see, I believe that the left uses the global warming scare to further their political agenda of 1.) more government control of industry & 2.) the eventual destruction of the free market system. (Not to mention the continued funding from the government for more research)!! Admittedly, I am a layman when it comes to the science end of this debate. However, this letter, signed by 100 scientists each with a string of letters following his or her name, makes sense to me. I’m smarter than you think, Comrade. I don’t have a PhD, and I haven’t worked on constructing the Death Star for the past few years, but I can hold my own. (You would never agree with that, but that is ok. I’m on to the fact that any dissenting opinion is “stupidity” to you, and that is the main reason I am not interested in “debating” you. I would find that a tedious, painful, depressing endeavor. I tend to debate folks that I respect and that at least treat me with some measure of respect. You don’t want to debate, Newsy. You want to argue. No thanks.
However, I would be interested to hear your opinion on the letter to the U.N. There seem to be some pretty reputable signatures on that letter, and I have a hard time believing that those people participated based on a politically motivated agenda. One thing that baffles me about you (from the perspective of your professional background) is your willingness to take such a strong political stance on a subject that should not be influenced by politics. (You accused 3 major news outlets of having political agendas regarding global warming in one of your previous rants. You said that the Nolan chart I provided for your review was politically motivated, and therefore not credible). Yet, you are obviously politically motivated!!!! You are so contradictory, it makes my head spin. Science is supposed to be an objective field. You propose a theory, you conduct research and experiment(s) to either prove or disprove the theory, and you record results. (In a nutshell)! I took an objective look at all of your posts so I could formulate an opinion that was based on the available evidence. The available evidence on you, based not on my opinions but on your own words, is that you are quick to judge, slow to listen, and diametrically opposed to anything that isn’t in line with your far left beliefs. You can’t see past your own opinions long enough to even CONSIDER an alternative. Therefore, I conclude that you are not only an “unworthy opponent” to debate, but also an undesirable person to even converse with. My Belief in Jesus requires that I love everyone. I sure don’t have to be your buddy, though. (There IS A DISTINCTION between loving someone as Christ commands, and subjecting yourself to the company of one who is just plain icky to be around. It isn’t a sin to dislike someone. I just had to throw that in there in anticipation of your certain attacks on my faith. Jesus doesn’t command His followers to be doormats. That’s another thing about liberals. They can attack, attack, attack, and attack, but Christians are expected to sit there clutching their Bibles. Liberals don’t have to abide by any moral absolutes, but because Christians believe in moral absolutes, God help them if they make a mistake and sin! The liberal attack machine is relentless in those instances. The funny thing about that to me is….Christians never claimed to be perfect!!! That is why we depend on the wonderful grace of God. The tough thing is having to take abuse from people who live like devils and have no concern for any moral issues ever until a Christian commits a transgression. Then all of a sudden they are beating Christians over the head with the very Bible they never have even read nor even belive in. WOW
Anyway, I digress. You said you were waiting for a mountain of data that refutes the Anthropogenic view….well, start climbing.
    http://www.middlebury.net/op-ed/global-warming-01.html
I would welcome any other comments on this topic.
I can already predict the reaction of DaNews:
“Mike, you are a mindless idiot. Your rant is laced with stupidity. The Middlebury information is funded by Fox news! It’s unreliable! Not credible!!! Unreliable!!”
So, with that in mind, it would be refreshing to have another opinion. (Or even the same opinion from a different person)!!
    Anyway,
    Thanks for your attention.
    God Bless America!!

  108. To Chris
You know Chris despite what Mike thinks and say’s about me I am a fiscal conservative. So that would make me a libertarian I suppose. I do agree with you on CNN vs FOX. it is no secret that Fox has fabricated and propagated news story’s in it’s past.
And offers very little proof/evidence to back up some of the stuff they propagate or allege.
And the Tea Party’s where a reflection of the Neo Con hard right. I say this because when I was watching some of the signs people carried around with them. It had no bipartisanship (contrary what Fox reported) Support. I find it worrisome when individuals carry signs around that say (HANG EM HIGH) with the names of current sitting Senators and one not so current (All democrats).
I also do understand that there are fringe individuals on both sides. But I do find it rather odd that it is reported by Fox as a grassroots movement when clearly it was not.
    Anyhow good post

  109. To Mike
Well Mike to your credit, that was probably the best post you have posted and actually gives credence to you being in the possession of a cranial cavity large enough to house a brain with the capacity to formulate a constructive debate.
There are a few thing I agree and or disagree with though and they are as follows.
1)On the subject of debating religious matters there are a few things that I maybe should clarify.
a)There are (as I am sure you are aware) many different religious believes ie. Christianity Muslim faith Hinduism Taoism and Sikh.
b)With all these different faiths a legitimate question is. Which one is right?
c)If I make the assertion that God exists then it is scientifically and philosophically unfalsifiable. Hence it is a believe.
d)So with the knowledge that believing in a higher being and it being unfalsifiable one therefore has to believe in a higher being and is undeniable.
c)Religious dogma now is a different mater entirely. It is a Human interpretation of what that higher being is and wants.
d)Dogma unfortunately has produced whole groups of people that think and believe they are either an extension or the assigned messenger to carry out the punitive measures of God.
Don’t get me wrong Mike I do not think you are such individual.
d)Do I believe in God ?? well yes because it is unfalsifiable. And if you would say that there is no God you would therefore also say that you have the capability to understand what nothing means. And if you take the philosophy of (Hegel) thesis and antithesis serious then you are also saying that you understand what eternity means. That of course is ridiculous (there I spelled it right)and I personally have never met anyone that came close to explaining what eternity is.
e)Christianity in my opinion is the better in all of them because it’s main philosophical mandate is Piety french for (to have compassion for your enemy)
f)But as a scientist I also know that it is prudent to separate believe from fact.
Hence my statement that I made in a earlier post “it is not good practice to inject a believe into a debate about reality.” (even though reality is relative)
    continued in next post

  110. I find DaNews an interesting contributor to the illusion of debate. I am not sure if DaNews is simply brilliant, diabolical or brilliantly diabolical. There is no debate only noise meant to distract those that are conditioned and desensitized and false liberty for those with the capacity to resist should they know, or better yet accept the truth. Centra/World banking are the rulers. All of you must read history carefully now before it is all rewritten and stop wasting your obvious intellect on arguments in this forum. DaNews, face the real truth and use your brilliance to survive and fight what is coming. If not, you are a mole.

  111. Post 2 Climate Change
Unquestionably Climate Change is a subject of enormous complexity and thus subject of much debate.
The link you have posted Mike contains names of scientist that are reputable in fact I know some of them personally.
At this moment in time most scientists that have involved themselves in the climate change debate are either convinced or have a greater then 50% probability believe that Climate Change is real and Man Made.
It is true that there are a lot of scientist out there that will dispute the data concerning Climate Change. This is why that by executive order of the Bush Administration NAS (National Academy of Sciences)was commissioned to produce a risk management grid to look at the possibility’s and or the risks associated with significant action and no significant action. The individuals involved are for the most part PHD’s either in science or economics. I myself was involved with the creation of that Grid that produced some surprising results. Unfortunately the document and the research was classified and still is classified and therefore I can’t release any information it contained. I can however tell you that there where some heated debates from both camps. And as I have pointed out in a previous post some scientist have strong Political believes and in some cases ties (both way’s) This is why the debate is now shifting away from a scientific approach to a Risk Management approach.
On the subject of the Nolan Chart see next post

  112. Da-News seems to be some one who is tech savvy, hiding behind the screen accepting hand out with lots of cats around his tiny apt.pseudo intellectual with no job or means of income….
By his long posts here I wonder how he has the time to do it, And if he is not posting he’s watching TV !!!!!
Why only Fox, why cant you comment anything about other channels…
Hey its nice to hide behind a screen ain’t it!!!
    its gives you power lol

  113. I just finished watching Keith Olbermann railing against Dick Cheney regarding Cheney’s comments on GTMO & torture.
All I care to say about Olbermann is that he is a self righteous, smug individual who makes my skin crawl.
Immediately after Olbermann’s show, I switched to HBO and happened upon a documentary, “Taxi to the Dark Side”, also about GTMO & torture.
That also made my skin crawl.
I think it is very easy to jump to conclusions on this issue. To be sure, the documentary was compelling, powerful, and horrifying. The stories that former detainees shared were shocking. The photos of the treatment of terrorists (and no doubt suspected terrorists) were very disturbing. I looked at the issue objectively. Should we be able to use whatever means necessary to extract information ostensibly used to save American lives? What if one of those detainees, who appear so vulnerable and sympathetic in the film, were in fact planning to kill my family? (When it comes to a gut wrenching moral question like that, I find it best to consider the most extreme personal plight possible, for from such situations, an individual’s true character is revealed). Obviously, when faced with the prospect of having harm befall my loved ones, I would take whatever action was necessary to ensure their safety.
However, I would want to be SURE that the people accused of planning harm to my loved ones were indeed definitely going to carry out that harm.
I think that if we have undeniable proof that we are holding someone that poses a threat to the safety of American innocents, then we should be able to use whatever means necessary, ONCE all other means are exhausted, if possible.
That last part of the statement muddles things a bit. How do we know if we can afford the time to exhaust less stringent methods? Would less stringent methods be effective? Can we rely on the information we receive from the enhanced interrogation techniques?
These questions, in my mind, are far too complicated for boneheads like Olbermann to decide within the frame of his nightly hour long anti Bush/Cheney rants. I find his analysis and pronouncements devoid of objectivity. He seems totally motivated by Bush hatred and a smug as a bug in the rug attitude. For goodness sake, he was quoting Oliver Cromwell while ACCUSING Bush & Cheney of being responsible for 9/11. OK, Keith…uh, right on.
Aside from being disturbed by Mr. Olbermann’s obvious mental instability, I feel I have considered the torture issue more deeply than I ever have. It was shocking to see the Abu Gharib photos, some of which included detainees naked and leashed with dog collars, and a particularly disturbing photo of a female guard doing her best FOnzi “thumbs up” impersonation over the corpse of a priosoner. Wow.
Are we so blinded by patriotic drum beating and fear that we will use methods that are inhuman? Or are we acting justly? I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Obviously we are facing an enemy that is brutal and completely without any scruples. One thing is certain: Our enemies are not engaged in the soul searching that I am engaged in now. I’m sure they don’t think twice about, and probably actually enjoy, sawing off the heads of the “infidels”.
And then I realized this: We are blessed to live in a country where a documentary like this could be shown. Whether I agree with its message or notis irrelevant. What is relevant is that I have the freedom to watch it. You can be sure that such freedoms are not available in the countries of the terrorists (although an alarming number of knucklehead Americans are joining the ranks of these monsters).
I’m left shaking my head at how brutal and cruel we can be to each other. I don’t understand what motivates a person to saw another person’s head off to further some sick political agenda. I don’t understand how anyone can get off on inflicting pain on others. I only pray that God grants us the wisdom to deal with the terror threat instead of attacking each other, which in the end is a complete waste of time.
    God help us all.

  114. On the other had though Mike two wrongs don’t make a right

  115. On the other hand though Mike two wrongs don’t make a right

  116. It is fear Mike that drives these types of behaviors and justifications for them.
    Like you said your self
“Obviously, when faced with the prospect of having harm befall my loved ones, I would take whatever action was necessary to ensure their safety.
However, I would want to be SURE that the people accused of planning harm to my loved ones were indeed definitely going to carry out that harm. ”
Personally Mike I think if we go down the road of where fear dictates our behavior we end up degrading the moral and judicial fiber the Nation was built upon.
If we are to be Ronald Reagan’s “America is a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere” Then we need not engage in acts that compromise the foundation of laws and or morals.

  117. DaNews:
I don’t think that enhanced interrogation techniques necessarily constitutes travelling down Fear Ave. In my opinion, the determining factor(s) are:
1.) defining exactly WHAT an EIT is. (Let’s use waterboarding as an example, since it seems to be the technique that has garnered the most attention). According to Dick Cheney, government interrogators used waterboarding on 3 occasions, the most famous of which involved Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (Not sure of the spelling of that name….imagine that)!
Obviously Khalid is a not-so-nice individual. If we use extreme-yet-non-life-threatening force to obtain information, I don’t believe that we’re allowing fear to dictate to us….I think we are allowing concern for (potential) thousands of American lives to dictate our actions. Personally, I think waterboarding would be a pretty rough experience to endure, but it is not life threatening. It is VERY VERY uncomfortable, but I think it is very civilized in comparison to the treatment meted out on the victims of monsters like Khalid. You see, Khalid got up and walked away from his “torture”. Folks like Daniel Pearl, or any 9/11 victim, were not so fortunate. If making Khalid feel like he was drowning saved even ONE life, then I think it was worth it.
So, does the end justify the means?
No, I don’t think it does. As long as we don’t compromise our principles, I think we are still the shining city on the hill. These are horrible, unfortunate times, and we are dealing with people who could care less about human life. I don’t think we take the time to fathom how evil someone like ol’ Khalid really is. He actually boasted about chopping off another man’s head. We are so desensitized that maybe we gloss over that, but really pause for about 5 minutes and think about that. Could you imagine hating someone (or not even caring enough about someone to have ANY type of feeling) bad enough to want to SAW OFF THEIR HEAD??? I have to tell you, I can’t. Our nation is in unchartered territory. Terrorism (and how to properly deal with it) is relatively new to us. I think we are doing a pretty good job thus far. Certainly not perfect, but pretty good.
2.) Let’s assume that we ARE afraid. You used my statement (about harm befalling my loved ones) to illustrate an instance of fear dictating ones thoughts and actions. Well, in an instance as extreme as that, I don’t know who WOULDN’T be afraid. I look at that type of fear as more closely resembling a deep concern rather than a blind, ignorant reaction to something unpleasant. Say what you will about Bush & Cheney. They made their share of mistakes. However, I think they were genuinely concerned about the welfare of Americans, and I think they did the best they could under circumstances we never really faced before as a country.
3.) In my opinion, waterboarding on 3 occasions does not constitute a “fear dictation policy”. (I just made that up, and have to tell you that I think that term sounds pretty cool)!
Look, none of this stuff is palatable in the least. However, we are in this situation. We don’t owe anybody any apologies, and we certainly did not bring terrorism on ourselves, as has been suggested by some. America has done nothing but help the world whenever the world needs it. Look at WWI & WWII! Consider natural disasters that befall places like India, China, etc. We always send aid (money, food, volunteers, etc) to those in need around the world. How many countries helped us when Katrina hit? I don’t know if we received any aid, to tell you the truth. My guess is that we didn’t, and if we did, it was minimal compared to what we contribute.
Anyway, God Bless our men & women in uniform on this Memorial Day. I thank you for the sacrifices you make every day so that I can enjoy FREEDOM. God Bless those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that our country (and a good deal of our WORLD) could be free.
    God Bless us all!

  118. Just like to point out that the so called enhanced interrogation techniques are a wording that was popularized by Dick Cheney. The second point is that under the law those so called techniques are called Torture and is illegal.
Follow this link Mike and read the story.
    http://avg.urlseek.vmn.net/search.php?tbn=avg&lg=us&type=404&q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.correntewire.com%2Fmcclatchy_texas_cou
GW Bush knew that it was Torture under the law.
Now what this has created is that you cant bring these characters to justice. Why you ask well simple really Mike. Most of them have never been formally charged so the statue of limitations has run out.Under a Military trail it maybe could be done but there are a number of legal problems that need to sorted out.. In short it is a legal mess.. Then there is the Geneva Convention brought into law by Congress (and we are a signatory to that) that has explicitly designated water boarding to be Torture. So it is illegal inside the Nation and it is illegal outside the Nation. The next point is Mike that the Army field manual strictly prohibits Torture including water boarding.
You cant walk on both sides of the line it is just not credible. Besides it creates an relationship of distrust with our allies.
As far as I am concerned the law was broken and we as a Nation need to find out why.
Should we prosecute? Maybe not, since we have bigger fish to fry at the moment.
My hope is that humanity finds a way to leave behind wars and acts of terrorism.
After all the Bible is pretty clear on the subject
“He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword.”

  119. One last point Sheik Mohammad Khalid has been water boarded 83 times … So my question is if you have to do it that many times then does it really work? I would say not

  120. DaNews realy needs to find a job! Maybe then he might actually learn something!

  121. To Riiiiiihgt
I hate to disappoint you but I am gainfully employed.. Thanks for the concern though.

  122. The Republican Party sure is no longer the party that I wish to identify myself with. For decades now I have seen it become the antithesis to what is morally acceptable. The attacks on Sonya Sotomayor are way to incendiary and bad for the Nation. True the Individual needs to be questioned and there is a time and place for this. it is questionable in my mind whether people like Newt Gingrich Cheney and Carl Rove (non elected officials) should drive the elected part of the party. I agree with Charles Krauthamer that these individuals are distroying the Party.

  123. still nothing yet???

  124. I watch all the news stations but prefer
FOX because I did not like the way the
other stations slander Sarah Palin or
Hillary Clinton. I felt the Democrats
stole the election from Hillary. As a
    woman…I feel the other T. V. Stations
do not show enough respect for women.
The ladies who are news reporters on
MSNBC are not fair and balanced news
    reporters.
Thank you for letting me voice my
    opinion.

  125. man, the libs are getting destroyed by Fox.

  126. Closed minded? For years we have had your
BS ideology shoved up our collective asses
whether we liked it or not. Finally, we have a network that represents our interests and all you can do is spit venom. I mean, after all, you created Fox, we didn’t.

  127. Dear DaNews. Get a life. Find a job. Go to work. We need you to help pay for all the new spending.

  128. The fact that Fox News carries such a higher percentage of the ratings can be directly attributed to the fact that they cater to the lowest common denominator: old retirees or out of work or stay at home losers.
Folks who are educated seldom get their news from television. They read it either in the paper or on the internet. Calling O’Reilly, Beck or Hannity ‘news’ is like calling American Idol ‘art’. It is just a spectacle. It appeals to the tabloid mentality of their primary constituency. O’Reilly used to host the tabloid show ‘Inside Edition’. And he uses the exact same formula for his current show because he knows that his sensationalism of news stories and his effective spin will be easily absorbed by the slack jawed yokels watching his program. Simple as that.

  129. Republicans have higher income then Democrates, despite the fact that most democrates are in high incoming states. I think Democrates just want to think they are enlightened, but in reality they can never aspire to the same economical achievements most Republicans can.

  130. Republicans have higher income then Democrates, despite the fact that most democrates are in high incoming states. I think Democrates just want to think they are enlightened. I want to see a compelling evidence that democrates are smarter.

  131. Republicans have higher income then Democrates, despite the fact that most democrates are in high incoming states. I think Democrates just want to think they are enlightened. I want to see a compelling evidence that democrates are smarter.

  132. Im not black, Im a latino. I dont want to hear about Black in America. I dont care aobout that. These patronizing dems thinks that latinos and white people dont have problems. That whites dont get cancer and get sick. That black people are vitims, Im sick of all that BS, Rap music and the wise black strong male and the stupid white guy. People could tell is BS. Everytime I see a commercial is a black guy and a white woman next to him. There pushing that BS so much. And it only says, My white trash daughter is going out with a black guy. CNN is full of S***. There the real facist. Im sick of the guys with the chocalte faces. There the real racist and facist, and Obama is like every other affermitive action person and Jewish boss I worked with, playing the race card to get ahead. I had enough of CNN and this pratonizing BS.

  133. Hello Frank Schaeffer.
I notice you don’t like inflammatory rhetoric when it’s aimed at you. Never seemed to bother you when it was aimed at that devil George Bush though. May I remind you that the hateful words of the left have led directly to the deaths of several Americans and you didn’t blink an eye!

  134. Right on!!! Couldn’t agree more.

  135. the repubs only had the white house not congress

  136. Typical liberal fashion. Name calling and Michael Moore talking points.

  137. Obscurity? look at the Fox ratings.
With a republican base and outstanding ratings it seems that we’re still here. By the way are you really Keith Olberman. I swear you sound just like the douche bag.

  138. How are you getting these numbers I know alot of people and none of them wacth fox

  139. How are you getting these numbers I know alot of people and none of them watch fox

  140. I find it utterly Ridiculous that fox news is leading in ratings. That is the most biased and ill-informed network ever. MSNBC maybe clearly biased but at least they do tell the truth, which is a word that was never in the fox network vocabulary. As a highly educated african-american woman that news station has offended me on several occasions. I hope they go bankrupt.

  141. I agree. Maybe CNN will hire you as a “journalist” since you sound like the rest of them they have there.

  142. DaNews,
Maybe CNN will hire you as a “journalist” since you sound like the rest of them they have “working” there.
    KW

  143. Have you not read through some of the legislation that Obama supports and has voted for in the past concerning the 2nd Amendment?
If you have read them, then you would see where Glenn’s information is coming from.
It won’t happen directly… but through taxes, laws, insurance companies and government regulation guns will mysteriously be next to impossible to buy.
Start watching the hand Obama has behind his back, and not the one he is waving around for everyone to see.

  144. I just scrolled down and saw DANEWS spending way too much time on this site. Is it because you never leave your mother’s basement since people refuse to listen to a misinformed and obviously angry virgin. I’m sorry that you got beat up every day in high school and no girls would talk to you. You know nothing of the real world and it is obvious you don’t work by looking at the times you post your comments. Let the healing begin.

  145. I’m fine with a news station leaning one way or another, but Fox crosses the line, with lying and deception. We can see the effects of the misinformation fox supplied about health care bills in town hall meetings. They reported that the bills included euthanasia, that our health care is the best in the world( though it is 2nd most expensive it’s rated 37th by the World Health Organization).
Earlier they reported a theory that Obama wasn’t a natural born citizen. they continued to ask questions on the issue after the certificate of live birth was made public. If he was born in kenya it wouldn’t matter because his mother is a citizen, thus making him a citizen. if they really didn’t know this and were honest journalists they would have accused McCain of not being a citizen since he was born in Panama. its improbable to assume that they made this many mistakes of accident. They are clearly being dishonest and i hope the country wises up.

  146. i can tell you why your an idiot. wealth is not an indicator of intelligence. Obama planned to tax the rich and give tax cuts to the poor. This was rumored to be a 10% income tax raise for those making over 350,000. Thats a lot and for most rich who already have good health care, McCain would be much more attractive. In this past election where the popular vote is close, the amount of millionares that vote for a candidate affects the average much more than the difference between a lawyer and a school teacher’s incomes. My advice is stay away from statistical analysis.

  147. Da News,
You are a fascist moron who clings to the liberal trend of never taking personal responsibility for your actions. Your left wing views that guns kill police officers instead of the drug crazed criminals willing to take a life prove this. I fought in Iraq. I believe in the principals of conservatism and personal integrity. You know nothing of the sense of duty a police officer feels and you know nothing of the core problem which is if a criminal is willing to kill for profit they will find a way. You are a bitter coward so you don’t understand this. You blame the guns. I was at the tea party. I believe in the right to protest a crazed president expanding the size and power of government. I am the one who will pay the debt he caused, and I will be paying the rest of my life. I saw and spoke with what you call “minorities” at the TEA parties. I don’t have to prove a thing to you or your liberal propaganda. The idea of integrity, standing on principal, or fighting for a cause bigger than yourself is foreign to you because you are a coward. Why should someone have to prove anything to you petty little man? I don’t care if someone makes a large sum of money every year. They should not be punished for their success. Over taxing them is not fair. And guess what you pompous coward, here’s what liberals don’t understand: just because I don’t have to pay more money (yet) from taxes doesn’t mean its okay with me. It’s not my money, I didn’t earn it. I’ll pay my own way, my own share and I will not accept bail outs or expect other people to pay my share for my county. I joined the ARMY, fought for my county, lost friends, used the money to pay for college, graduated and did all of this my self. I’m just a man. If I can crawl out of a hole myself anyone can. But liberals think it should be given. It shouldn’t. It should be earned. It’s obvious this concept eludes you. You complain about FOX which is the most balanced of the cable news channels, but you ignore the propaganda of MSNBC. You hypocritical fool. FOX sponsors debate, people argue their ideas so I can make up my own mind. No one else offers that on the same scale. You’ve posted long rants on this web page all with the same blind ideological ideas with a bitter disdain for those who disagree. You claim the TEA parties are just racist white gatherings which is a brilliant red haring technique to distract and discredit what the point of the TEA parties really is. You need the distraction. You need people to lay evidence at your arrogant feet so you can discredit it further. You are threatened by them. You are a coward who recites the talking points of Keith Olbermann. You unleash your frustration that someone dare disagree by typing callous liberal rhetoric and attacking their opinions like a petty little man with a keyboard. I know you have never served your county. I know you tell you’re self that Fox is #1 because people watch it to disprove their facts. You tell yourself this because the fact that people like Fox and their approach is threatening to you and requires a cowardly justification. I know you are a weak person. I know you do not embrace and practice the principal of personal responsibility when it’s inconvenient to you. I pray you don’t have a son. He would have no man to guide him. So type your rhetoric coward. Justify to yourself and others why I and those like me are wrong. But don’t look into a mirror, or lock eyes with a man of integrity like a U.S. Soldier, because if you do, your coward like insecurities and inequities will shine through and no justification will keep them at bay.
    Good bye coward.

  148. Not surprising that Fox Noise Channel has more viewers. Mostly uneducated couch potatoes who sit at home and watch TV. Most intelligent people are doing something far more stimulating and sitting in front of the boob tube.

  149. What are you smoking?

  150. Hey Da Dave, You and Da Newsidiot must be related. Is it me or does Obermann and Madow look and sound alike? I think Obermann does 2 hrs a night. From 8-9 he dresses in his weenie loser character outfit and from 9 to 10, he’s in drag.

  151. Bunch of rebel-rousers-fired-up-red necks still dominate the cable news, Hannity Howlers with idiot band wagon followers. sad.

  152. Sabrina: You must watch Fox. FiOS does and has always carried MSNBC.

  153. Sabrina: You must watch Fox. FiOS does and has always carried MSNBC.

  154. As Americans, whatever our political affiliations may be, don’t we all want to find a way to live/work/prosper together? It really should not matter what we watch, but how we act towards/treat one another. How embarrassing that every thread in this forum ultimately resorts to name-calling.
    OK, enough high-horsing and tsk-tsking.
As a person pretty solidly in-the-middle, my opinion on the “fair and balanced” reporting of these networks is this:
+ CNN was once the go-to for fact-based journalism. However, FOX News’ incredible success as a news source with loud personalities and their selection of tantalizing news stories drove CNN to try the same tactic. Ever since they’ve went down this road, the network has suffered. That said, I do think they do a better job of TRYING to stay to the center than other networks. I also find that they treat guests of all affiliations with a little more respect. Why the low ratings then? Because, let’s face it — CNN is not as entertaining as FOX and MSNBC.
+ FOX News is a reflection of what people in this country seem to want: sensationalized news. They do a fine job of reporting the news and bringing up the right’s side of the argument. However, when I tune in, I always feel like it is a shouting match (Glen Beck?), with only one side of the issue being explored and Bill O telling his guests to “shut up”. It’s a bummer really, because I like hearing all sides of an argument, but I don’t care for the mean-spirited “tone” on many of the shows.
+ MSNBC will be an interesting network to keep an eye on. I don’t watch it much, as I find their quality of reporting to be pretty low. It’s too far on the left (and sometimes on the right) for my tastes and the pundits are generally pretty rude. But, this tactic seems to grab ratings, so I would not be surprised if their viewership continues to increase.
    My two cents. Thoughts?

  155. Really….?? Maybe you would like provide some evidence contradicting any of these statements… Oh you cant ??? I thought so..

  156. The really weird thing is I am in another country, Singapore, (US ally) and we are doing a course on Media in America and one of the topics we talk about is journalism and whats not, and the main topic of discussion of what journalism aren’t is Fox News. It doesn’t bode well for your country if your main source of news or most widely viewed news channel is Fox news.

  157. I am not happy seeing CNN Lou Dobbs – he is a right wing extremist. I really don’t watch cnn when Lou is there. However, I must say I love Larry and Anderson C. AC360. They are very professional – they do not show they side in any party. Newschannel must be that way.

  158. I have tried to compare other news programs to the Fox News reports and find it remarkable that others even have an audience. I like the commentary shows too but if you want to know what happened in the world today, you have to go to Fox. The day of the 9/12 event in washington, I looked at all the other networks and nothing (seems like they were covering ways to keep cat hair from accumulating under the coffee table) but nothing about the thousands of demonstrators in Washington DC, Nothing about Iran or Israel or Afghanistan, nothing but left wing fluff and snot.
Try switching channels during the news hour and compare the stories that are being covered.
The state controlled puppet networks don’t report current events but staged and pre-approved propaganda. I didn’t even know about Fox during the election but realized that even the shows that were supposedly reporting news on the other networks were merely making politically biased commentary. I hope they all get exposed for what they are. Pravda is less biased than ABC,NBC, or CNN. How can they believe they can keep covering up stories like Van Jones, ACORN, Jeremiah Wright, with snippits of Michele growing veggies? Good Grief. I for one am glad to see that some americans are waking up and wanting to know what happened to 800 billion dollars that just seems to have disappeared? Guess what, didn’t disappear, good ole boys have it. Sure didn’t make it to main street.

  160. This is unfortunate. It reflects on the deepening divisions between the “right” and the “left” in this country. Both FOX and MSNBC speak to the converted.
CNN does a little of that (especially their resident race baiter Roland Martin who should be dumped ASAP) but overall, CNN is the closest to providing actual news.
I know it’s tough to see ratings slip – but I would encourage CNN to weather the storm and continue to provide straight news, right down the middle. When the big stories occur (war, 911) people want to see serious, non-partisan news.

  161. DaNews – You say that you were “flabbergasted at the total and complete absence of any and all minorities” at the Tea Parties.
What exactly is your point? Are you saying that you WANT to see more black & Hispanic people showing up at Tea Parties? Or are you saying that the Tea Parties are somehow “racist” because they happen to be mostly white?
If blacks and Hispanics are not showing up at taxpayer rallies, whose fault is that? Personally, I think blacks & Hispanics SHOULD be showing up at Tea Parties because fiscally responsible government is something that benefits everyone. And I’m sure that the Tea Party organizers would LOVE to see more minorities showing up!
Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and other minorities are ALL invited to attend taxpayer rallies. Unfortunately, Democrats have effectively convinced most of these groups that large, centralized government is in their best interest and that limited, Constitutional government is somehow a “white thing.”
DaNews- since you are so concerned about the lack of minorities at the Tea Parties I would suggest that you attend a few yourself next year. I look forward to seeing you.

  162. That is the most laughable thing i ever read EVER. If u want to know more about news around the world or even America BROADLY, u should look to FOX news. American news, MSNBC, CNN or FOX for the matter tend to cater to news mainly in America or things that may affect America, or in Fox’s case other countries where news can be sensationalized. If u want to have a broader view of news, try alternative media outlets, BBC, Haaretz, Al-Jazeera to name a few, New York Times opinion pieces are good too.

  163. Apparently intelligent people aren’t watching TV as much as they used to.

  164. Billo the Clown? and Fixed News great? Well I guess youre rite the have the best clowns, ie Billo, Malcontent, Shawn Insanity, Bozo Beck, and somtimes Drugster Limbaugh.

then his show is followed by butch maddog what a joke

  167. MSNBC should be sued for impersonating a news channel ! They would be better on on MTV show PUNKED because they start at 8 oclock with the biggest fool on cable news.He has what maybe 200,000 to 300,000 watching his mess. You could get that many people to watch a frog jumping contest.
Then is is followed by whatever you want to call her /it -ragdoll maddog or the butcher the better .All they need to finish off this joke of a channel is to put pee wee herman on next

  169. All this MSNBC bashing can’t compare to FOX news, for all of MSNBC’s quirks, the world aren’t laughing at them. They are laughing at Fox News. There is something wrong with Fox news when people from other countries and educational institutions from other countries start using Fox News as an example of what responsible Journalism is not.

  170. Danews…..you have to be Rachel Maddow

  171. Not Rachel? maybe her girlfriend????

  172. A: Not sure what this means, exactly. ,

  173. A: Not sure what this means, exactly. ,

  174. It’s a misnomer to refer to Fox programming as “news.” They can call themselves “Fox News” and you can reflexively refer to them as “Fox News” all you want but the drivel and biased coverage that comes out of that network is hardly news. It appears to be mostly highly skewed opinion and hate-mongering. I think this tells us more about who watches television–the same people who watch reality shows and think they represent reality watch Fox News and think they’re getting news. There’s no critical thinking among the masses.

  175. youre calling Lou Dobbs a liberal?

  176. It’s a no brainer. Fox News is by far and away the best, most informative and balanced news outlet in the business. It comes as a total surprise that MSNBC and Keith Olberman even got an honerable mention, he is usually too busy “carrying water” for Obama and his tax cheating cabinet.

  177. You can’t even report numbers without being accused of some conspiracy against the left. Fox does well for a reason. The fact that OBAMA says FOX is bad does not MAKE IT SO. When you can get over that, you can-maybe- accept the math. If you TRULY BELIEVE to the extent that you fight the ratings numbers, you are done. Sad you missed the bus to Jonestown so many years ago. Good luck, fight against the numbers, and watch the country change.

  179. I really don’t know how anyone can watch MSNBC in the evenings? Keith Olbermann needs to take a breath every now and then and actully have a valid conclusion to his long and drawn out spewing of words? Also, how does anyone watch Rachel Maddow (how do these people get there own show???)who is the most sarcastic person on television? Again, she actually has to have a conclusion with a point, maybe??
These two need to be removed from MSNBC and replaced with individuals that have more credibility in the field of journalism. Individuals that are not interested in using their air time to sell there personal opinions. They two shows are not even interesting?

  181. CNN is a horrible News outlet. They are really more of a mouthpiece for the Left and Obama than a news outlet. MSNBC is not too different than CNN. One major difference is MSNBC has lunatics of the left which brings them viewers who are waiting to see what they will say next
Thanks to President OBAMA, Fox News is enjoying it’s highest ratings ever. Also ,they in my opinion are the most fair and balanced>
As for tea parties and minorities. i have seen minorities attending at a rate exactly proportionate to the populace.

  182. You know, CNN reports the facts; they point it out when Democrats and Republicans screw up. They don’t have any power in preventing Republicans from making mistakes; they just report the mistakes that politicians make (Fox doesn’t).

  183. I got this strange feeling that most of these FOX news supporters and CNN/MSNBC bashers from here and other websites are paid groups attacking and putting these comments.

  188. Just give us the news without the nonsense. Perhaps, if news networks would report just the facts and forget the spin ratings for all networks would be higher. Higher ratings generate more advertising dollars that would create more jobs. Don’t tell me what to think. Tell me what is happening and let me think for myself. Will this happen? I doubt it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  189. Really The rep did not have majorities in both houses of congress Guess I should recount those numbers let me see

  190. People watch Fox News for the same reason Reality TV is so popular. People love to watch trainwrecks!

  191. People watch Fox News for the same reason Reality TV is so popular. People love to watch trainwrecks!

  192. First, for those of you who are left wing, progressives are you not hearing the vast majority of the people in recent elections? The new Senator from Mass, elections in Va and N.J. are just examples of things to come. I have never been politically involved, just an independent that has voted for Dems and Reps. But I, like the vast majority of Americans, see our freedoms in jepordy. This is a result of the left wing progressives who have a plan to change this great country from independence to socialistic/communistic control. You left wing radials don’t have a sense of history. I am a child of the 60’s and remember left wing radials bombing, rioting, killing because of left wing casuses i.e. viet nam war, politics of both the dems and repubs. As well as more recent events like the Copenhagen conference (the more I thing about how dems talk reminds me of the old communists lying about how great they were then we all know what happened….they fell.
So, people and organizations like Rachel Madcow, Keith Oberwoman, MSLSD, Pelosi and Reed are part of this “new” left wing radical socialistic/communistic movement. They hope that if they call a lie the truth long enough we will all beleive it. However, the dream of our founding fathers of Liberty, Freedom, and Independence will not die because of these left wing radicals. No more will the people of this country be fooled again. We, the People, have awakened.
O’Reily, Hanity, Beck, and many others as well as Fox News will make sure of that. The left wing is a MINORITY.. get use to it. You WILL NOT WIN!!!!!

  193. I also made the switch to FOX about 6 month’s ago. I live in Atlanta-home of cnn. Once was something to be proud of, but-I’ve tuned out the “communist news network”!

  194. Hello there, great article, I thouroughly enjoyed reading it. the post gave me the kick to try my own post, please see my post by clicking my name at the top of this comment, cheers

  195. I used to watch MSNBC all the time, but it became far too liberal for my taste, and I have long considered myself a moderate liberal. I am a Fox watcher now, which surprises even me!!
I watched Chris Matthews post that the US was rated #37 in quality of care (health care), which is absolutely untrue. We were ranked number 1 on the only category of that study that even sort of looked at “quality” of the health care, which is system “Responsiveness”. Our quality was ranked number 1, our fairness and access took us to #37. That gross misrepresentation turned me off to the channel – and that’s just one example of their bias leanings.
Fox misrepresents facts too, but I would rather hear views that lean to the right now, than to the left – FOR SURE!!

  196. An intersting way for CNN to fix one of their most hard hit shows, The Situation Room.

  197. Heres a tip, if u are really serious about watching news, forget FOX news or CNN or MSNBC, try Haaretz or even BBC.
PS: Rasumssen polls is a hoax.

  198. Ricky Martin is gay!

  199. If you ever need info, about ACORNS misdeeds
Chairman maos christmas tree ornament on the white house tree,Or those who think the usa should be destroyed —-
you will never hear anything on CNN or CNBC
They are the stooges of their corporations.
Somehow they just don’t get it. FOX RULES

  200. Since there is only one extremist network out there, I do not find it unusual that they have higher numbers. If you want to watch hateful propaganda, there is only one network to watch – FOX. People who want civil debate and unbiased facts, have lots of other choices.

  201. Perhaps if they quit sending out squashed fake HD video people would give it a chance… it’s like watching umpa-lumpa’s all squashed and wide.
Hey CNN … taking SD and stretching it to 16:9 doesn’t make it high def.

  202. As I see it,(1)unbiased, “objective” news is a myth both practically AND philosophically (2)program popularity is too often based on “hype” and other theatrical gimmicks (3)the highly rated “shows” usually give off more heat than light(4)”bias” means opposition to a viewer’s beliefs (5)”truth” in the news is seldom recognized or understood by the most God-fearing, patriotic, mother-loving, and non-partisan among us.(6) Most viewers have neither the time, the inclination, nor the ability to know how to evaluate “news analysis”. It’s sound-byte, thought-byte, squawk-byte: parrots everywhere, but no eagles!

  203. why would anyone watch the fox noise channel. so slanted, and rude. No respect for our president. not right ,

  204. Great post!

  205. I would like to see fox news bring trace
gallagher back on air. This man has such class, really spoke very well to viewers ,well informed,.Megan talks to fast and she just is not good on her own.I hope as a viewer our opinions are looked at.Trace needs to be back in ny prime time.

  209. Unlawful discrimination complaint by Jeff Hotchkiss
On December 15, 2009 at about 0550 a.m. in the San Carlos roll call room I (Jeff Hotchkiss) along with all day shift staff were addressed by Bob Cantwell, Director of Prisons and Lou Archuleta, Deputy Director of Prisons. The meeting was concerning the up coming vote by staff to obtain their opinion of going to twelve hour shifts. Also present were Gabe Hernandez and a Mr. Parker representing the Employee’s Organization (WINS). All staff were notified at that time that there would be a vote concerning the (MSP) Multi-Shift pilot program. We were also told that only WINS member’s would be allowed to vote. We were told that if you want to have a say, join WINS. Several people voiced their anger about the vote. I also spoke up and stated that what they were purposing was wrong. It was clearly a decided issue and our protest were in vein. Having top D.O.C. officials present added an intimidating factor to the meeting. The action taken was discriminatory in nature and created a hostile work environment. On December 17, 2009 the WINS vote was conducted, discriminating against employees and myself for not being members of their organization. Direct violation of Administrative Regulation 1450-05, Dept. Vision and Values statements, State Personnel Rules and Governor Executive Order D 028 07. Staff witness’s are CO I Doug Tihonovich, CO I Ricky Gonzales and Sgt Robert Lozano. I felt like I was being forced to join the Employee’s Organization and being intimidated by top D.O.C. officials. I personally, was emotionally shocked by the presentation. I can not believe the gall and arrogance of the D.O.C. and WINS to stand up and blatantly discriminate against me and fellow staff. I found the presentation and the vote to be offensive and against, what any reasonable person would consider fair and or just. Attached is a resolution written by me to resolve the unlawful discrimination complaint I filed December 26, 2009.

  214. Wake up, a-hole! The run for the next presidential campaign begins next year. Barry Obama has had enough time to do SOMETHING, but his DO-NOTHING administration can’t seem to pry their heads out of their rectums. Most of the country sees that the change & transparency that were promised are just smoke & mirrors. In 2010, the majority of the voters will show they are tired of smoke being blown up their asses, and send Obama into a well justified retirement.

  222. It is no wonder CNN, and the like channels are loosing viewers. I watch both Cnn and Fox and I must say CNN is the most bias news channel I have watched. It is so obvious they are totally supporative of everything Democrat right or wrong. I am not a Republican I consider myself an informed voter and I try to read and look at all sides of an issue and all the people involved. The problem is CNN gives only one side. Fox is obvious about it being of Republican support however they do have several shows that give both sides a chance to debate the issues. I do not watch CNN any more unless there is something important going on and I compare how it is being reported by several stations.

  229. I do not know how MSNBC can be improving in its ratings. I have tried many times to watch them but all of them only talk trash about everybody on Fox News. No news, no anything but ridicule and trying to discredit everybody else. I think somebody needs to re-assess the ratings. I cannot make myself watch them for more than 5/10 minutes and my husband, the same. He watches TV news broadcasts ALL DAY LONG. Fox is the one he keeps the channel on and to be honest they are the only ones who make sense.

  230. Great post!

  231. Good post, thanks

  232. Tom… the reason for the decline in CNN’s ratings has nothing to do with FOX News… if CNN actually reported anything of significance, people would watch. CNN did try and report on the Black Panther story but the person reporting it got shot down before he could say OBAMA… anyway, Fox News does not tell CNN what they can and can’t report and vice versa… The blame has to lie with those that control the news that CNN reports (or, maybe more importantly, is forbidden to report). The reason CNN has any viewership at all is there are still people who are “asleep” to the truth. Once the alarm clock “goes off” they will wake up and see the sad state of affairs the U.S. is facing. Then they will turn the channel and we will be discussing CNN in the past tense (Remember that news channel on cable… what was it?…. oh, yeah, CNN and what was that guy’s name… oh, yeah, Anderson Cooper and he was talking about that earthquake…)???

  245. I kicked the habit a week ago and it really is starting to affect me right now. My partner says I won’t keep going but I am so strong about this I won’t fail. recently I began having painful sensations inside my abdomen and I seriously am craving a cig. I can’t give up because I’m stopping for my youngsters. I am blessed to have the smokeless cigarettes. It is extremely helpful if you ask me.

  246. I have found stopping can be extremely difficult. I introduced myself to tobacco use when I was in my teens. It absolutely was the most horrible mistake I’ve made. Right now I’m older and I have COPD. I bought each of the stopping methods still absolutely nothing did any good. My last try is definitely the electronic cigarettes in the end.

  247. LOL check-mate!
Fox is so biased these days & some of them are just ridiculous, dumb & idiotic, and this comes from a guy who likes to watch Glenn Beck.

  248. Fox cable news is Entertainment news…they do not always tell the truth-fox is more fear monguering/right wing don’t kill your babies wait til they become adults so that we the conservatives can send them to war too die.
CNN-tells the news from both sides and they try to stay neutral.
MSNBC- tells the new(facts)however, they are more liberal. So if you put both CNN & MSNBC together they have a pretty good audience.

  249. Thank you for a great post

  250. Both MSNBC & CNN suck anyways. I wish people would stop caring about this kind of bullshit.

  255. wow ….so many posts

  256. Great post!

  257. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

  258. Okay, some extremely beneficial stuff right here I really like it, I found some surprisingly informative material here concerning the topic

  259. PPC Revenge 2.0- Tremendous post on the blog bro. This amazing is just a enormously nicely structured page, just the knowledge I was seeking for. I praise you

  260. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  261. Good post, thanks

  262. I agree with Mike, this is an important point to what this is about.

  263. There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that.

  264. Great post!

  265. Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

  266. Wonderful to read!

  267. It is cruel, you know, that music should be so lovely. It has the splendor of loneliness of grief: of power and independence. The elegance of disappointment and never-satisfied love. The cruel beauty of nature and never-ending beauty of monotony.

  272. My bro told me about this site just today. Great blog you’ve got!

  273. Congrats Rick sanchez to be let go by CNN, thanks for stopping us looking at ur conceited mentality and also your eyeglasses fall.

  274. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

  275. Hows it Going, Just wanted to let you know this blog is not showing up properly on the Palm Treo. Anyway, I’m now visiting this website on my Mac, Thanks…

  278. hi,
what is your opinion for Wayne Rooney
Will he really leave Old Trafford?
because there is now speculation that the 24 year-old could be on the move. It really wouldn’t surprise me if he did move on after all that’s gone on. However it would need to be abroad if he was to avoid the British media.

  465. Very nice blog.I like this and will come back very soon.

  466. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  467. You make blogging look like a walk in the park! I’ve been trying to blog daily but I just cant find writing material.. you’re an inspiration to me and i’m sure many others!

  468. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  469. Really….such a helpful web site.

  470. PROPAGANDA NONSTOP.
Reminds me of the Russian Propaganda from the past.
