Actor, filmmaker and Sundance Channel founder Robert Redford will accept the Promax|BDA Lifetime Achievement Award at the marketing association’s 2009 Conference in June, the group announced today.
Mr. Redford, who got his start in television before moving on to star in films including “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “All the President’s Men,” has championed independent film through his Sundance Institute. He also has advocated for environmental responsibility and was named one of Time magazine’s Heroes of the Environment in 2007.
“Robert Redford is a worldwide icon and a visionary leader who has nurtured the artistry of independent film and entertainment while promoting environmental and social responsibility, all through his Sundance brand,” Jonathan Block-Verk, president of Promax|BDA, said. “Robert Redford’s understanding of the importance of communication through art and messaging, and the success that has followed him throughout his career, warrants the Promax|BDA Lifetime Achievement Award.”
The Promax|BDA 2009 Conference is set for June 16-18 in New York City.
