Press release from CBS, Nov. 5, 2013:

This morning, the People’s Choice Awards announced this year’s hosts of their 40th anniversary ceremony, Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs from the CBS comedy "2 Broke Girls." The actors were in attendance at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills for the announcement and to help present the nominees for "The 40th Annual People’s Choice Awards," with Rachel Bilson (“Hart of Dixie”), Ciara (Epic Recording Artist), Darren Criss (“Glee”), Allison Janney ("Mom") and executive producer Mark Burnett. Winners will be revealed during the live broadcast of "The 40th Annual People’s Choice Awards" from Nokia Theater L.A. Live on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 (9:00 – 11:00 PM , live ET / delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

"Kat and Beth are great additions to our People’s Choice family and we are excited to have them host the show,” said Mark Burnett, the People’s Choice Awards executive producer for the fifth consecutive year. "Their energy and charisma are a perfect fit for our audience.”

Voting opens today for all 58 categories and will close at 11:59 PM, ET on Dec. 5, 2013.

This year, fans cast more than 160 million votes for the nominee selection phase, a new record. Robin Williams, who won his first People’s Choice Award in 1979 for his role on “Mork & Mindy,” has received a nomination 25 years later in the same category, “Favorite Actor in a New TV Series,” for the "The Crazy Ones." “Glee” leads the list of TV nominees with eight nods, including Favorite Network TV Comedy and four acting nominations for the show’s cast. Katy Perry is the top music nominee with five nominations: Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Song, Favorite Music Video and Favorite Fan Following. Sandra Bullock leads the list of movie nominees with five nods: Favorite Actress, Favorite Comedic Actress, Favorite Dramatic Actress and two for Favorite Duo (one with George Clooney and the other with Melissa McCarthy). McCarthy is the only star to be nominated in both movie and television categories, including Favorite Comedic TV Actress for "Mike & Molly," and Favorite Comedic Movie Actress.
