Global film and television studio Miramax today announced that Daniel Pipski has joined the company in the newly created position of Vice President, Television, effective immediately.

Reporting to Miramax EVP, Production and Development, Zanne Devine, Pipski is responsible for generating original series as well as series concepts derived from the Miramax library. Working closely with Devine, Pipski will drive series development and production, as well as third party television projects.

Miramax television currently has a number of series in various stages of development and production for which Pipski will now assume responsibility. Among the projects already announced are Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn TV series for El Rey Network, recently picked up for a second season, and Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York TV series with writer Jay Cocks.

“We are very happy to have Daniel on board with his experience, great taste and excellent talent relationships,” said Devine. “There are amazing opportunities in television right now and Daniel will be essential in establishing Miramax’s position during this exciting time.”

Pipski added, “I am thrilled to join Zanne and the entire team at Miramax. The company has a strong foundation and all the tools at its disposal to become a significant player.”

Before joining Miramax, Pipski was the Head of Working Title Television where he oversaw the development and production of the hit NBC comedy About a Boy, created by Jason Katims. He was also developing drama and comedy projects at NBC, Fox, HBO, AMC, Cinemax, XBOX and NBC International with various award-winning writers including Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum), David Arata (Children of Men) and Wyatt Cenac (The Daily Show).

Prior to Working Title, Pipski served as Senior Vice President, Production at Groundswell Productions, where he served as lead executive for Ed Harris's Appaloosa starring Harris and Viggo Mortenson, and Steven Soderbergh's The Informant starring Matt Damon. He was also involved in the development and production of Groundswell's Academy Award®-nominated film The Visitor and two-time Academy Award®-winner Milk.

Before Groundswell Productions, Pipski served as Senior Vice President, Development at LivePlanet, the film/TV company formed by Sean Bailey, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. In this role, he developed Gone Baby Gone with Ben Affleck and Disney's Tron: Legacy, and served as co-executive producer on the ABC pilot Marlowe, directed by Rob Bowman. Pipski began his career as a receptionist at Working Title Films.
