Press release from TV One, March 25, 2015:

TV One today announced that News One Now’s first-ever primetime news special, Mo’Nique: Uncensored, which premiered at 10PM/ET on Sunday, March 22, delivered a .24 P25-54 rating (144K) outperforming CNN’s Wonder List with Bill Weir +4% (139k) and Fox News’ Stossel with John Stossel +87% (77K) in the time period. Moreover, the special delivered an increase of +95% among P25-54 vs. the prior six-week time slot delivery, is the network’s #1 social program on Sunday night, and ranked as the #7 program among Black A25-54 in all of cable in the time-period. Host and Managing Editor Roland S. Martin’s one-on-one interview with the Oscar® winning actress will re-air on Sunday, March 29 at 10PM/ET.

“This viewer response is a tremendously satisfying way to launch our first primetime special,” remarked Martin. “The cultural relevance News One Now provides clearly fills a void with viewers interested in the Black perspective on topical news and entertainment issues. We were happy to provide Mo’Nique an in-depth opportunity to share her story and are excited to meet viewer demand with an encore airing next Sunday.”

News One Now, the first morning news program in history to focus on news and analysis of politics, entertainment, sports, and culture from an explicitly African American perspective, sat down with Mo’nique to discuss the recent controversy surrounding reports that she experienced backlash following her groundbreaking role in Precious. Mo’Nique also opened up about wage inequality in Hollywood, her current approach to sustaining a career in the entertainment industry and her role in the upcoming independent film Blackbird.

Emanating from the heart of Washington D.C. in a state-of-the-art studio that offers a stunning view of the Capitol building, News One Now airs Monday through Friday on TV One from 9-10 a.m. News One Now is hosted by Roland S. Martin, the 2013 National Association of Black Journalists’ Journalist of the Year and former host of TV One’s long-running, award-winning weekly news program, Washington Watch with Roland Martin. Each morning, Martin – who also serves as the program’s managing editor – sifts through the headlines of the day to spotlight matters that greatly impact the African American community. Beyond radio and television, News One Now reaches audiences 24/7 with exclusive program content and extended editorial on NewsOne.com and the NewsOne mobile app. News One Now is an evolution of Interactive One’s award-winning digital brand NewsOne.com that launched in 2008 and reaches millions of African Americans each month.
