Web Video Viewership Rising Quickly

About 63 percent of broadband consumers, or about 81 million people, watch Web video, according to a new study conducted by the Nielsen Co. for the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing.

That’s a jump of 16 percent from 70 million in just six months, from September 2006 to March 2007.

The study also found that Web video viewing is complementary to traditional TV. In fact, 33 percent of consumers said watching Internet video increased their traditional TV viewing time, while only 13 percent said it decreased their TV viewing.
