“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone extended their deal with Comedy Central for three years in an agreement that calls for the pair to form a digital development studio.
It’s one of the highest-profile deals to make a show’s digital extensions a centerpiece of the contract.
The pact calls for Comedy Central and Mr. Parker and Mr. Stone to create a joint venture dubbed South Park Digital Studios, Comedy Central said. The studio, to be housed in Los Angeles, will concentrate on digital animation for “South Park” as well as new animated projects.
The digital extensions will reach to cell phones, game consoles, computers and more.
Under the deal, the team will produce three more seasons of “South Park,” at 14 episodes per season.
In addition, Comedy Central and the creators are creating a new online home for the series and will relaunch SouthParkStudios.com in early 2008.

Three more seasons? It seems like they've wrung enough libertarian blood from that "stone."

South Park Digital Studios sounds like the
worst idea since Apple Corps.

So in exchange for these three more years, did Matt and Trey promise to try and actually make the show consistently funny again?
