HBO Renews ‘Conchords,’ ‘Entourage’
HBO has renewed new musical comedy “Flight of the Conchords” for a second season.
The network also said its hit “Entourage” would be back for a fifth season.
“‘Entourage’ is a full-fledged cultural phenomenon, and ‘Flight of the Conchords’ has quickly become a show to watch,” said Carolyn Strauss, president of HBO Entertainment. “I’m delighted that we’ll be bringing new seasons of these distinctive series to our subscribers.”
“Flight of the Conchords” is a quirky show about New Zealand music-comedy duo Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie as they try to live and work in New York. The show has attracted a cult following.
The renewal of “Conchords” comes days after HBO canceled freshman drama “John From Cincinnati.”
“Entourage” this year received seven Emmy nominations, including comedy series, directing for a comedy series and supporting actor in a comedy series for both Kevin Dillon and Jeremy Piven.
