Ad Spending Slips 0.5 Percent From First Half Last Year
Overall media advertising spending in the U.S. dipped 0.5 percent in the first half of 2007 compared with the first half of 2006, the Nielsen Co. said today.
Internet advertising was on the upswing, posting a 23.2 percent increase between now and this time last year.
The big downswing was national radio advertising, down 8.5 percent.
“American Chopper,” “Dog the Bounty Hunter” and “Miami Ink” led cable programs in product placement in the first half of 2007. “Chopper” totaled 29,476 instances of product placement.
“American Idol,” “Fast Cars and Superstars” and “The Amazing Race: All-Stars” led product placement on the broadcast side. “Idol” tallied up 4,349 points of product placement.
