MySpace Launches Scripted Series

MySpace plans to launch a new Web series today that will run daily for the next two months. The show, “Roommates,” is a scripted series about a reality TV show. Each episode will premiere at 4 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, until Dec. 21.

The show represents the next step for MySpace as it tries to become a video destination for professionally produced content. Just last month it inked a deal with Emmy-winning producers Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz to carry their new show “Quarterlife,” starting later this month.

The launch of “Roommates” marks the first time MySpace is co-developing an online show, said Jeff Berman, general manager of MySpace TV. Iron Sink Media is the production shop behind the series. Each character on the series will have his or her own MySpace page and the show’s page will include interactive polling tools.

“This is the next step in the evolution of MySpace TV,” Mr. Berman said.

The show will be sponsored by Ford Focus.

The series will be available at www.myspace.com/roommates.
