NBCU Names Klarman Oxygen General Manager

Jason Klarman has been named general manger of Oxygen Media, which was acquired by NBC Universal last year.

Mr. Klarman had been executive VP, Marketing and Digital Strategy, for NBC Universal’s Bravo Media. He will continue to report to Lauren Zalaznick, who is president of both Bravo Media and Oxygen Media. He also worked closely with Ms. Zalaznick at the Trio cable channel.

At Oxygen, Mr. Klarman will determine the marketing, digital, communications & sales strategy for the network. He will have responsibility for day-to-day operations and will manage the brand strategy, consumer and trade marketing, on-air promotion and creative services for Oxygen.

He will also oversee the strategy for advertising and digital sales and the development of all digital content.

“At Bravo Media, and before that at Trio network, Jason has brought innovation and growth to every part of the business he's touched. He thinks big, he thinks strategically, and is extremely effective at taking an existing brand and bringing it to a whole new level,” Zalaznick said.

Mr. Klarman oversaw the re-branding of Bravo in 2005 under the tagline “Watch What Happens.” He helped launch Bravo’s biggest hits including “Project Runway,” “Top Chef,” “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” and “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.”

He also overhauled the network’s Web site from a promotional destination to an online hub heavy on Bravo’s pop culture focus.
