Fox Cable executive Rita Tuzon has been promoted to executive VP and general counsel of the Fox Networks Group. The move is a key part of a restructuring in the wake of former Fox Television Network President Ed Wilson’s departure to become Tribune Broadcasting president.

Ms. Tuzon will report to Fox Networks Group President-CEO Tony Vinciquerra, as will Fox Sales President Jon Nesvig and Fox Broadcasting Executive VP of Network Distribution Jon Hookstratten.

Nicole Bernard, broadcast standards & practices senior VP, and Minna Taylor, senior VP, legal affairs, will report to Ms. Tuzon. Karen Earls, the network’s VP of legal affairs for network distribution, will continue to report to Mr. Hookstratten but will consult with Ms. Tuzon when appropriate.

Ms. Tuzon was named executive VP of business and legal affairs and general counsel for Fox Cable Networks in March 2004.

“We’re fortunate to have a seasoned team of executives who have worked together for many years. They each have a thorough knowledge of their respective disciplines, and I have complete confidence in their abilities,” Mr. Vinciquerra said Monday in announcing the restructuring.

“Over the past several years, Rita has demonstrated keen instincts and a strong strategic approach to problem-solving at the cable group,” he added. “I am confident she will thrive in this new role.”

As the cable networks group’s general counsel, Ms. Tuzon supervised all legal and business matters pertaining to Fox’s regional and national cable networks, including FX, Fox Movie Channel, Speed, National Geographic Channel, FSN and 20 owned-and-operated regional sports networks, Fox College Sports, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Español, action-sports lifestyle channel Fuel TV, Fox Reality Channel and the Big Ten Network.

Ms. Tuzon also spent seven years as senior VP of litigation for Fox Group.
