Digital media company Entriq acquired technology provider DayPort for an undisclosed amount, the companies announced today.
The acquisition is one of the latest in a string of mergers in the online video business, fulfilling experts’ predictions that consolidation would begin to take place in the sector this year. Earlier this year, Yahoo acquired online video technology provider Maven Networks.
Entriq helps companies manage paid digital media broadcasts online. Its clients include MTV Networks, World Wrestling Entertainment and BSkyB.
DayPort’s customers include Harpo Productions and CBS. DayPort offers an online video technology for free online content, similar to Brightcove.
With the acquisition, Entriq will be able to offer technology to support both paid and free content options online.
