'F'N MTV' Offers Music Videos, Performances
MTV is launching a summer music show called “F’N MTV Premieres…,” hosted by Pete Wentz of the band Fall Out Boy.
The Friday night show, launching June 13 at 8 p.m., will show first-run music videos and feature live performances. Performers set to appear include Panic at the Disco, Flo-Rida, the Ting Tangs, Snoop Dogg, Lil’ Wayne, the Pussycat Dolls, Duffy, Boys Like Girls and Vampire Weekend.
The show’s online component at MTV.com allows viewers to comment on the videos and performances and to submit video reviews and karaoke performances. Submissions judged the best by MTV.com voters will be shown on-air. Some performances also will be available via MTV Mobile, where users will be able to answer polls and submit comments.
Sponsors of “F’N MTV Premieres…” are Verizon Wireless and music download service Rhapsody.
“F is for feedback, N is for new, and together ‘F’N MTV’ is the summer music event that brings it all together. Starting in June, MTV will focus on exclusive new music video premieres and, via MTV.com, the instantaneous feedback from our audience and culture at large as they make the music their own,” said Brian Graden, MTV Music Group entertainment president, in a statement.
“MTV’s new paradigm enables us to not only initiate a conversation around music via flagship premieres, but also reflect that conversation back on television in real time. ‘F’N MTV,’ along with interactive amateur competitions like ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ and ‘Making the Band,’ the perennial viewer-driven ‘TRL,’ further MTV’s mission of enabling this generation’s great musical democracy,” Mr. Graden said.
MTV’s high-definition channel MHD will air weekly “F’N MTV Premieres … Live Sets” show packages consisting of live performances from the show. Each performance package will air several times in HD throughout the week after its Friday premiere. Leading up the “F’N MTV Premieres…” season finale, MHD will run a marathon of all the Live Sets.
