Stage 9 Digital Media, Disney-ABC Television’s Web production studio, has signed a deal with Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film & Television in Los Angeles to allow students to develop short-form content.
“These students are the demographic that looks to the Internet as their main source of entertainment,” said Barry Jossen, general manager of Stage 9. “By collaborating with these Fellows, the Stage 9 team benefits from a hands-on working relationship with young filmmakers who are creating some of the most exciting, entertaining content in new media.”
Loyola Marymount School of Film & Television Dean Teri Schwartz will invite recent graduates to participate in a workshop with Stage 9’s creative and production teams to develop scripts, budgets and schedules. The studio will put select projects into pilot production starting in June.
“This collaboration is very beneficial, as it offers our film school the unique opportunity to partner with an entity as forward-thinking as Stage 9 Digital Media in establishing exciting new opportunities for our students as they transition, upon graduation, into the industry as the new generation of imaginative, skilled storytellers and creative leaders,” Ms. Schwartz said.
