June may have passed, but TLC is jumping into the wedding season with a new series and the return of “Say Yes to the Dress.”
“This new hour on Tuesday nights is jam-packed with fun, and emphasizes what weddings should really be all about—a unique celebration,” said Brent Zack, VP of programming at TLC.
“Say Yes to the Dress” follows brides-to-be as they search for the perfect gown in Brooklyn’s famed Kleinfeld bridal salon. The new season, starting July 15 at 8 p.m., includes the story of a woman who recently beat cancer and another about a bride who required 16 fittings before her dress was just right. Since last season, Kleinfeld has added a male fashion director to its staff, and to the show’s cast.
“This second season of ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ continues to feature women from all different backgrounds on the roller-coaster ride that is finding the perfect dress,” Mr. Zack said. “But this isn’t a solo endeavor. Moms, family and friends always have a strong opinion, too, which is what makes the process so exciting to watch.”
Following “Dress,” TLC will premiere “Rock the Reception,” which focuses on the wedding tradition of the first dance.
The show follows two engaged couples as they learn a professionally choreographed number from the husband-and-wife team of Napoleon and Tabitha D’Umo. The couple has worked on “So You Think You Can Dance” and trained Justin Timberlake and Beyonce Knowles.
The series concludes with the two couples performing in front of guests at their weddings.
“‘Rock the Reception’ brings a whole new twist on the traditional first dance, focusing on what has become the latest phenomenon in modern weddings,” Mr. Zack said.
