ABC Makes 'Bet' on Time-Slot Shift

ABC is giving a big boost to "Wanna Bet," moving the first-year summer show behind "Wipeout."

Starting next week, "Wanna Bet" will shift to Tuesdays at 9 p.m. It replaces "I Survived a Japanese Game Show," which wrapped its freshman season this week.

ABC will fill the 9 p.m. Monday time slot that had been occupied by "Wanna Bet" with repeats of comedy "Samantha Who?" The comedy airs on Mondays during the regular season.

As for "Bet," the time-slot shift will give the show a much better chance to get sampled by viewers, since "Wipeout" is the most-watched new show of the summer.

"Bet" had been airing behind "High School Musical: Get in the Picture," the lowest-rated new show of the summer on the broadcast networks.

According to Nielsen, the most recent episode of "Bet" averaged a 0.9/3 among adults 18-49, improving slightly on its lead-in.

"Wanna Bet," a variety/game show based on a German format, is hosted by British personalities Ant and Dec. Phil Gurin is the executive producer.
