BBC America Picks Up ‘Robin Hood’ Season 3

BBC America will air the third season of “Robin Hood” in 2009.

Jonas Armstrong, who plays the title character, is set to leave the show after the season-three finale.

“Jonas has been a superb Robin Hood who updated the legend for a contemporary audience, reinvigorating it for a whole new generation,” executive producer Foz Allan said in a statement. “It has been a wonderful experience working with Jonas. We will miss him, and wish him all the success for his future.

“We cannot confirm the series climax, nor can we guarantee who will survive and who won’t. You will have to watch it to see,” Mr. Allan said. “But we can assure you Robin’s exit will be unmissable.”

The series, currently filming in Budapest, is co-produced by BBC America and Tiger Aspect for BBC.

Joanne:

I am so glad that the BBC America channel is going to show season 3. I wish, however, that they would give a definite date in 2009.

I have to say that Jonas is my favorite actor to ever play Robin, and I have pretty much seen all the past Robins. Although, I will watch the 3rd season with him--I have to admit I won't be watching the 4th season (if there is one) without him.

Sandra Gupton,RN:

Please, say it is not so! Jonas Armstrong, "Robin Hood" is the greatest Robin in all my watching of the characters over my lifetime. I can't beleive the show would let him walk away, without wanting to at least talk to him, about how to perswade him to stay on as a part time quest or maybe just take a temporary leave, but to lose him is insane, next will be losing Guy, then the show will be done.........

I am telling you, you have a real money making show here! Kids love it, teenager's love it, grown adult's love it. Even through I am a Registered Nurse, School Teacher's in my church are talking about Robin Hood adventures bring up enough interest in children and teenager's to want to read of that time period in early history....
This show has given enough impact and interest to bring Season 3 and 4....So please keep them coming. It is one of the only clean show left on TV Even if it is BBC AMERICA........ I will watch it regardless.......

Thank-You for giving Us Robin Hood!

cathy:

I love Robin Hood and all the characters!!! It would be especially wonderful if BBCAmerica could broadcast M!-5 with Richard Armitage!!! He has so many American fans and we would love to see him play a detective!!! He looks like a detective!!! I much appreciate your consideration in this matter!!! One of many RA fans here!

Northern Lass:

Glad to see that you're going to show RH3. Now how about giving us a fourth series BBC! I know, I'm just being greedy! As for the gorgeous Richard Armitage, well, don't let him "go good" but above all else keep him alive! The ratings will take a nose dive without him!

What about showing MI5 too with this lovely actor?

James Heinrich:

Jonas Armstrong rocks! He's a great Robin Hood! I really like him! He's awesome and the best one yet!
If Robin dies at the end and the sheriff and Gisborne get away with it scott free I'm going to be really upset!

Denise de Jose:

Personally, the only reason I watch Robin Hood is to see the fantastic acting skills of Richard Armitage of Guy as Gisborne. If he leaves, so do I. Armitage has done such an incredible job of adding complexity and interest to his character. To me, he is the best actor in the show by far!

Antonellina:

se jonas armstron dovrebbe lasciare la serie
credo che non verrebbe più molto seguita
adoro questa serie televisiva e spero che lui resti.

anita:

oh id do love the bbc series and i simply can't see jonas armstrong leaving. wish the the series will go on indefinitely, it is so entertaining and suspensful. every single actor is superb as is in the true british style.
how can the story go on without marianne, she was such an integral part of the stories.
i simply can't wait for 2009 to get into it again. i look forward to saturday nights just for robin hood.
