CBS Radio News Joins Effort to ‘Stand Up to Cancer’
CBS Radio News will simulcast the “Stand Up to Cancer” special on Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. CBS Radio News affiliates in more than 400 cities will be able to tap into the live fundraiser, also airing on ABC, CBS and NBC.
The broadcast fundraiser will feature numerous celebrities, including Meryl Streep, Sally Field, Homer and Marge Simpson, Christina Applegate, Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek, Fran Drescher and Neil Patrick Harris.
The commercial-free hour, to be hosted by Katie Couric, Charles Gibson and Brian Williams, is devoted to funding cancer research.
“CBS Radio News is honored to simulcast this significant event. Radio has always been a medium that gives back to the community and we hope that by airing this program we’ll help to play a role in the continuing effort to fight cancer,” Harvey Nagler, VP of CBS Radio News, said in a statement.
