HGTV, Food Net Nab Hosts From Reality Shows
Scripps Networks keeps finding hosts for new programs through reality shows.
Jennifer Bertrand was voted the winner of HGTV’s “Design Star” Sunday night. As part of her prize, she’ll get her own show on the network. It is expected to premiere on the network in January.
Meanwhile, Food Network announced that Adam Gertler, who was the runner-up on the most recent season of “The Next Food Network Star,” will host “Will Work for Food.” That series is set to debut Sept. 30.
Both networks have high hopes for their new hosts.
“Our viewers have selected Jennifer Bertrand as our next big star,” said James Bolosh, HGTV VP for event programming. “Jennifer is a very gifted designer and we know she will bring her expertise and out-of-the-box creativity to her new role as a television host.”
“On ‘The Next Food Network Star,’ Adam exhibited a unique combination of quick wit, passion for food and an engaging personality,” said Bob Tuschman, senior VP for programming and production for Food Network. “He earned millions of fans across the country, who have let us know that we have a second star in our midst. We feel this series is a perfect fit for his talents, letting him showcase his brand of humor while he works for food.”
