Ive seen some VERY IDIOTIC court TV shows, but this one beats them all.That GHETTO MAMA of a judge thinks she is entertaining, but she is very annoying! I have started watching news during Judge Penny's time slot. Very bad television!!

I turned on this show today and thought I was watching a Mad-TV or Saturday Night Live skit making fun of judge shows. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on TV. The judge truly sounds like she has some sort of mental disability or something. Is this supposed to be serious?

I just want to know who is that fine and cute bailer? Tell him he is a for sure YES!!! thank u.

The way she speaks is soooooooooooo gutter slang how can she be considered a Judge at all. I hate the show, she needs to go away. The concept is great, she just doesn't represent professionalism.

I love the Judge Penny show. She is so down to earth and full of love.

In Chicago she is known as Judge Penny Ghetto. The show needs a tune up. Enough of the ebonics. Who is she speaking at. We need a translator. It is 2008. Penny just keeps reinforcing bad stereotypes. It is hard to believe that she was on any bench anywhere.

Just saw the show Judge Penny for the first time. What an embarrassment. We should all be ashamed that we let her wear that robe. Speaks like a street thug. Will never watch again.

Wow! I see that there are a few "haters" out there! I personally know Judge Penny and first off, she IS a REAL judge as well as GREAT person! Secondly, similar to the challenges Barack Obama faced, she endured a rough childhood and overcame numerous obstacles. She has an extensive list of noteworthy accomplishments and is an inspiration to many.

So, to ALL the "haters" I say, If you don't like the show, that's cool…it's your right. But, spewing the "Ghetto Mamma" and other idiotic personal attacks on someone who:
(a) is intelligent,
(b) has achieved much and
(c) bottom-line, you really DON'T know
speaks to your level of intelligence.

As the saying goes...It's better to stay silent and have someone "think" you're a fool than open your mouth and prove it to be true!"

Re: the young boy who was being bullied about his weight. The comment that this could come to a situation where a boy under those circumstanses can show up with a gun is so irrisponsible to make when there is a young boy in that situation is present.The judge should know better.

I can certainly relate to today's episode with the father and the 17 year old daughter. I was sort of in the same situation with my father when I was about that age. He hadn't gotten anyone pregnant but he did move in with a young woman that was maybe about three years older than me. I do believe that you gave the father a good tounge lashing that he deserved because you do relate your personal relationships with men do to the relationship you had with your father, because doesn't every little girl want to be daddy's little girl, and when you don't get that you feel rejected. I still think he didn't get it. But I did. I also really like your show because you are very caring and I can see the prosperity in you that goes beyond being a judge.

I am sitting here watching Judge Penny right now. I love watching her..I think she is very sincere and I think she gives good advice to the people who come before her.

Hi, my name is Mrs. Bernadette Moore-Simmons, I am 32 years old with 3 children. I've been on my own since i was 16 years old. All my life all i ever did was work, work, work, and go to school. I have never been my mother's pick of a child but out of all 3 of her kids i was the only one who try to amount to being someone special. On 08/14/2008 my 15 year old son ran away from my apartment. Later on next month after on 09/09/2008 I had found out after i made police reports, talked with counselors, etc. that my birth mother and birth sister had been harboring my 15 year old son all this time. My mother did not bring my son back home instead she's trying to be his mother. She has brained washed my son into believing that school is not important so just the other day his progress report sent to me his bilogical mother showed nothing but all F's. She taught him to have no dealings with me, or his other two siblings at all. She also allows him to be out everyday and night at any times he chooses. I tried asking police for help to help me bring my 15 year old son home where he should be but unfortunately they have gave me NO help what's so ever. Instead, they tried to make me look like the bad person because my teenage rebellient son decided to leave my apartment to go to his grandmoms apartment where he can have all the freedom and no rules as necessary. Question is how is there no one out here that won't help me? Why is there no one out here that cannot see that this situation is wrong? I never gave my birth mother permission, signature, or anything to have my child so why wont no one help me to bring my son home?

Please I wish Judge Penny can help me bring my family back together.

Sad that people are on here commenting on Judge Penny being ghetto and speaking ebonics. They are showing their ignorance and racism, she is from New Orleans and if you've ever been to the city or around people from there, they have a relaxed laidback manner and mode of sppech. Newsflash: the white people from the area sound the same i.e. Harry Connick Jr.- his speech isn't affected this is how New Orleanians sound. Obviously, she is vey intelligent because you have to spend 6 years in school to get your law degree and you still have to pass the bar before you can practice. Hi judge lisa, my name jayesa pronounced (jsa). Im so afraid for my daughter I tryed my best sense her father left us 9 years ago to move to Denver to start a new family. I've done all I can do, but let them keep her. You see she does things an intelegent young female shouldn't do. I tell her this is not respecting yourself, you are not welcome in certent places because no-one welcomes a thieff. My question is how I get her to stop stealing without sending her back to jail. What a beautiful spirit. Weather the judge is speaking "ghetto" or not, the purpose is to relate to whom you're speaking. I don't believe anyone leaves her court unchanged. She'll continue to tell the truth while the haters continue to watch. She's truely blessed.

Wow, I found this site and was intrigued by the prolouge...and then came the comments. I had just gotten finished talking to my girlfriend and telling her about how much I love Judge Penny (I feel like she's my aunt)and then to see all the negativity and closed-mindedness from what I'm sure, are mostly black people was appaling!

Judges are typically known to be stoic, stern and non-empathetic-straight law. No compassion. On today's tv however, they are usually loud, obnoxious, nosy, nasty-borderline disrespectful.

So let me be real about my first impression. I was definitely taken aback by her accent, but it didn't take long to realize (confirmed on a later episode)that she was from New Orleans. And she REALLY DOES CARE about her ligitants. TO ME, she's not just putting on a show, she is genuinely concerned for the well being of the people who enter her court room.

Her compassion is far from a front. That's something that cannot be faked and be believable at the same time. There are a couple of judge on tv right now who are as fake and see through as can be (one out of Fulton County as well). She can "tell a brotha" about himself without breathing, "read a sista" without blinking and put a child in their place without thinking and do it all with love pouring though and a smile on her heart. And they see it! I saw an episode where she completely lost it on a defendant and the young lady said, "Okay. Judge Penny, you got it going on." It was the sweetest thing.

So to all the nay sayers (if you've even read all of this), watch it again. If you are tuning into ANY of these judge shows, and unless you are way into the Jerry Springer type shows, then there's no way you can't see it too. Her show is definitely a well needed change.

Are you kidding me? I work in court for family court as well. If the Judge's I work for spoke like Judge Penny, the court would laugh at her. She uses words like "aint" and "yall". She comes across as angry, aggressive and bullying.
I watched this show once, laughed a few times, and changed the channel.
Who hired this woman?
Is this a quota thing? There are several amazing, smart and fair judges out there that could fill this role.. why this woman?

So I'm a PROUD Grandmother. My daugther and I have alway's been close but since she has been with the father of my granddaugther he has been doing everything to cause promblems with us and he is threatening me that I wont ever see my granddaugther and his mom and him call and harrse me I made a police report about it. Judge Penny, I love personity.Because you really love the family. I wish I could had for a judge some years ago. I took care of a older man for 9years. Because his family would not. he had cancer. He died and he had left me life time daily to his house. His daughter carried me to court for years until they got the house. I had because homeless and live in a hotel after I got my job. They took the car. Now I have a hard time my nerves went bad. I went the hospital. Now my health is very bad. What can do to get up on my foot. I gave up a good job at the court to take care of the this man. He was 88years old when he passed. The house is still in cheaspeake virginia and no one stays there. They all my clothes and the police said i had no rights. His daughters are school teachers. Rev. Forbes did not like the lifestyles his daughters live. I got raped some of my suppose to deacons of my church as well. My mother died in my are august 16,1986. I have no family. Then I was told that My mother stoken me from a woman that was going to kill before I was born. Now I am 48years old . I got to much on my plate right now. For all you out there who think we should disregard her antics "because she grew up hard" or "because she cares" should think again. Millions of African Americans have grown up hard(er), care about others, and have educated themselves. But guess what-- they aren't ghetto! Judge Penny makes a difference because she is an anointed prophet. If you have a relationship with God and can connect your heart to your head, you will see through the robe, etc.

I love watching Judge Penny and can't believe all the idiots attacking her calling her ghetto or unprofessional. I guess they forgot already about the one who had the top office in the world and went to Harvard and had trouble speaking and made up words. But he will still get a library name after him. And who is more rude, arrogant and angry than Judge Judy? But I don't say this to attack her but to acknowledge her attitude because I still watch her and think she is still fair in her judgement. Also to the idiots we in Texas sound different from those in California and people in different areas sound different. I am around many different ethinicies and enjoy each one individually and it is their character and honesty that makes the difference and nothing else.

I just don't understand. I have never seen such filth on a television show. I am not afraid to say it- the first time I saw the show, I was embarrassed to see how this high-level ranking judge could even hold her title. Judge Penny is a horrible example to anyone in the legal system. Her mannerisms and antics are one of an un-educated stereotypical black woman. Just like I'd expect a doctor to keep composure in regards to his job title, I'd expect the same from a judge. Judge Penny is pure television entertainment-there is absolutely no way she would be able to keep up in a real court of law. Not once does she ever use 'the law' in her verdict-just her opinion. There are plenty of educated African Americans in the court systems whom I respect and admire; however, they've earned their way to their title. It's one thing to have a small WB show on television that pertains to small family civil court matters, it's another to hold a real title in the US legal system that deals with actual problems effecting the community.
